Hi endo friends! I’m coming to you 7 months after my second excision surgery that unfortunately did not reduce my monthly period pain. My cramps are, and always have been, intense, severe, and life altering. It hurts to get up to brush my teeth even on day 5. I need hydrocodone every 4 hours in addition to my normal muscle relaxers and gabapentin, and even then I get breakthrough pain. I’ve tried every form of birth control (got a mirena placed at my last surgery but had to remove after 3 months due to suicidal ideation) and they all just create more symptoms and make my periods harder to manage and predict. I am exhausted and cannot do this anymore. I know a hysterectomy isn’t a “cure” and that I will always have endometriosis, but not having to deal with severe cramps every single month seems like it would radically improve my quality of life.
So, the question is: did having your uterus removed while leaving ovaries reduce/stop your monthly period pain, specifically cramps?
I would be super thankful to know your experiences!
TIA🖤
