Growing up in South Florida, I’ve been going to Disney Parks my whole life. It’s just part of my DNA and it’s also where I’m the happiest. As someone that lived in South Florida, cruises never appealed to my family because we’d be sailing somewhere that closely matched the climate and beach in my hometown… so we never thought about taking a DCL trip.

Years later, after we’ve all moved away from South Florida, I listen to The Boys talk to Ordinary Adventures about the Disney Treasure and other Disney cruises, and suddenly my interest grew. My family hadn’t been on a vacation together since my dad passed in 2020 and as soon as I told them about the new ships… they immediately got on board. All to say it convinced me to sail on the Disney Destiny and I just returned from the trip.

It was one of the best Disney experiences I’ve ever had.

As the parks have gotten more expensive and the magic slightly fading away, I think the Destiny helped restore the feeling I had going to the parks as a little kid. The crew knew our names, they remembered what we liked at dinner, one of the servers at the Haunted Mansion Parlor saw my HM MagicBand and gave me a brand new HM Parlor cloth napkin. I’d stroll the halls and bump into Goofy or Black Panther. When I was debarking, I had the same sadness I had when I was a kid leaving Disney World, and felt deeply touched by the experience. To make an already long story short… DCL got me. I never thought I’d be a cruise guy, but I can’t wait until the next trip.

Huge thanks to The Boys and Ordinary Adventures. Without them… I’d still be missing out.
