reverse osmosis experience

as I continue to research the countertop water filter my husband and I will be going with, I’m leaning towards aquatru. on social media, I keep seeing people say, even when they remineralize the water, like with trace minerals, they had negative experiences! this included brain fog, body aches, gi upset, etc. I do have a chronic illness which causes chronic nausea either way lol but I just wanted to see in anyone else had poor experiences!

countertop water filter

hello everyone!

after much research,  my husband and I will be getting a countertop water filtration system but we’re torn. aquatru removed the contaminants that fit our water quality report, the main one is arsenic and fluoride. we are drawn to boroux and even though we can buy the fluoride filter, it does not remove arsenic. boroux is much bigger but not sure if the size is actually worth it when aquatru seems like the best option 😅

I’ve seen reverse osmosis is not necessary but were fine adding the trace minerals to remineralize the water! is it worth just getting boroux since it’s bigger in size?

for background, we usually buy water bottles and for health/sustainability reasons we are wanting to switch to just filtering our tap water for drinking/cooking etc!

Working while waiting!

This is for those who have researched themselves or actually did work while waiting. Please do not comment hateful or unnecessary comments such as “you don’t need disability if you’re able to work” etc. I’ve seen multiple on post so don’t need it!

I have been waiting since February and in July, got rehired at my previous job only per diem. The first month I made well under the ~ 1600 amount. Now, I pushed myself this month so went a little over but I’m back to square one where there’s no way I can work a consistent job.

When I previously spoke with someone when calling about my application. They told me working while waiting isn’t always an automatic denial, you just will have to explain why you started working and things like that. So I’m just curious! Please share what your process what like :)

Scheduled for in person exam!

Hi all! I applied in February. Have been on step 3 since March. Was told that I would know something. By July since most of my doctors got back to them but still haven’t had an update. Now I was told I have a consultative examination tomorrow to further assess my medical impairments. Has anyone gone through this? Anything I should expect?

anyone else experience rapid emptying?

Hello all! I've shared in this group before so this may seem repetitive. I want to preface that I have a brain condition known as chiari malformation that causes an overlap in symptoms with the gi ones I have. My gi has been concerned my symptoms show a gi motility issue and/or my brain condition causing my brain to push against my vagus nerve... then causing vagal nerve dysfunction which can impact my motility and digestion. Depending on what treatment may follow with my gi issues, I may just have to have brain surgery to then fix my vagus nerve issue and possible fix my gi issues!

My Gastric alimetry test in April showed my stomach’s electrical rhythm as running slightly fast (tachygastria). My principal gastric frequency was 3.39 cpm, the normal range is 2.65-3.35cpm. It showed a pattern of being meal-induced and late onset meaning my symptoms, like nausea, showed up after eating. My gastroenterologist stated this further confirmed his suspicions of me having gastroparesis.

Today I had my gastric emptying study which showed less than 10% at 2 hours so I was dismissed and not required to stay the whole 4 hours. It showed the egg whites went through my stomach quickly but stayed in my intestines. It’s suspected I have rapid emptying/dumping instead of gastroparesis. The tech told me to wait to talk to my GI since it's not an official diagnosis! has anyone had any similar experiences? if so, any treatments that worked for you with your motility?

symptoms progressing and concerned it could be worsening

hello all! I first want to apologize in advance for this lengthy post. secondly, I want to preface this by saying I do have a brain condition that causes an overlap with symptoms to my situation may be unique but still wanted to talk with you all!

for a quick summary, im a 26 year old female and in may of 2024 I got extremely dizzy and severely nauseous while at work. I was in and out of the emergency room every week due to symptoms worsening and constantly feeling weak, being unable to eat. this was until late june/early july. from july to august I was seeing multiple specialist including a neurologist due to my chronic migraines becoming worse during this time as well.

through all of this, I was diagnosed with a brain condition known as chiari malformation, a condition where a part of your brain descends to the opening at the base of your skull. this can cause dizziness, nausea, headaches etc. after seeing a gastroenterologist I was also diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and functional dyspepsia. since this time in 2024, I try to not take medications and let like I was managing my symptoms for the most part part through holistic means!

in december of 2025, I started an ivf cycle and had to stop due to moving cities and my symptoms worsening. after taking estrogen for the two weeks, this completely wrecked my system. since then I have had much more frequent and severe nausea (no vomiting) and constantly feeling full, yet hungry, and if I do have 3 meals in a day, at night I either would get severely nauseous or I fall asleep but wake up almost dry heaving as if my food didn't digest.

I have my ges next week to confirm but as of now, my gastro has diagnosed me with gastroparesis due to my symptoms and a test known as a gastric altimetry study where they measured my stomach activity through electrical monitoring. this was 5 hours long and a small meal was given and it showed my stomach had high frequency, slightly sped up, and delayed emptying. as of now, I have been prescribed reglan but avoid it at all costs since it makes me feel worse. if my ges comes back normal he wants me to consider brain surgery since it could be my brain pressing on my vagus nerve which then causes the gi issues, making it seem like I have gastroparesis!

as of now, for the past few months, ive learned when on my cycle im able to eat more and my digestion seems to be somewhat stable (due to a link with hormones/progesterone and digestion). I also can eat a small meal for breakfast and then a small lunch but cannot eat dinner since it will then cause severe nausea no matter how late I stay up!

disclaimer: I've tried eating multiple smaller meals throughout the day, too much fat or fiber seems to trigger me, I currently follow an anti inflammatory and gluten free diet, I also weighed 190 in 2024 and now am between 143-150.
