People in their 20s who own a business—what do you do, and how did you figure it out?

I’m 25 and currently studying nursing full time, but one of my goals is to eventually build a business that I can run from home or online (or even a physical business if the right idea came along).

The problem is… I genuinely have no idea what kind of business I should start. I’ve tried a couple of things in the past (affiliate marketing and an Etsy store), but neither went anywhere. I don’t necessarily see them as failures—they just made me realize I still haven’t found something I genuinely want to build long term. I’d love to hear from people around my age who own a business.

What business do you own? Is it online, home-based, or a physical business? How did you come up with the idea?
Did you build it around something you were passionate about, or did you just spot a good opportunity?

I’m not looking for a “get rich quick” idea. I’m just genuinely curious how people figured out what business was right for them because I feel completely stuck. I’d love to hear your stories.

Orthodontist said he wouldn’t recommend jaw surgery — but I still posture my jaw forward for tongue/lip function?

Feeling really confused after my orthodontist appointment today and would love honest opinions from people who’ve actually been through jaw surgery / orthognathic consults.

For context: I had braces when I was younger and jaw surgery was initially mentioned because of my bite/jaw, but my orthodontist decided to wait and see if braces alone fixed things. The braces aligned my bite, but over the years it still left my jaw and even chin recessed. Though the braces aligning my bite did somewhat help bring my jaw forward naturally a bit.

My main issues are:
- I feel like I naturally posture/hold my lower jaw forward because it feels easier to close my lips and fit my tongue comfortably.
- When I fully relax my jaw, my lips don’t feel comfortable closed and my tongue feels like it doesn’t sit properly.
- I’ve developed TMJ pain/jaw fatigue.
- I genuinely feel more functional with my jaw slightly forward (not just cosmetic).
- To bite into food properly I literally have to bring my jaw forward so the teeth align to rip into food, if not then i bite and chew on the sides.

Today I saw my orthodontist and explained all of this. He said that if I were his daughter, he would not send me for jaw surgery. He thinks the TMJ is playing a big role and wants to make me a night splint first to relax the jaw muscles and see how my jaw settles over a few months. He said if symptoms still persist, he would reassess but still did not mention much about sending me to a surgeon.

What upset/confused me is that when I explained I posture my jaw forward, he interpreted it as me doing it to look better, when for me it genuinely feels easier functionally (tongue space/lip closure), although yes, I also feel more confident that way.

I guess I’m just feeling really confused and disappointed because I genuinely thought this might end up being a jaw surgery issue, and now I don’t know what to think. Has anyone had a similar experience with an orthodontist wanting to treat TMJ first, or still felt like something structural was going on even when surgery wasn’t initially recommended? Would really appreciate hearing other experiences.
