I decided to make an update after every quarter about the current standings. This is the third penultimate update. This is the first update (after 4 events) and the second update (after 8 events).

A total of 23 people took part including myself. Thank you to each and every one of you who decided to participate!

The current top 3:

The lead has again changed hands! ScootsMcDootson has managed to dethrone Mathew117 with Mathew117 falling to third (they have essentially swapped places since the last update). The funny thing is that ScootMcDootson still has the same amount of penalty as in the last update meaning this rise has largely been a product of a performance decline from Mathew117 and RecoverQuirky4751 (currently in 6th with 80 penalty points)

u/naranjiazudou may not be doing great with his event predictions, but he has been doing great here and is provisional silver medalist. Will the numbers crunch in his favour? Or will the algorithm again flatter to deceive?

Sharing the provisional bronze with Mathew117 is Ok-Lab3251, who has been the story of the season, rising from dead last to a provisional bronze now.

Meanwhile, our leader through the inaugural 4 events, u/Even-Suggestion-9085, has fallen to 14th with 88 penalty points and detroit1time, bronze medalist after the first 4 events, is in 10th with a penalty of 84.

As with the top 3, the bottom 3 also has one change and a tie. Beefbewfqry has risen to 14th while Waffleboyz2 and FrenzySerpent749 remain in the bottom 3, albeit no longer dead last showcasing a slight improvement. That dishonour now goes to Low_Wolverine5164. But the biggest fall from grace certainly belongs to ba0bo0 who has gone from a silver medal after the first 4 events to the antepenultimate position now!

Some observations:

• Snowballs, our current leaders, were predicted to win by exactly 0 people!
• There are no less than 7 ties in the standings right now! 2 people tied for each of 3rd, 14th, 16th, 18th, and 20th; a 3 way tie for 6th; and a record 4 way tie for 10th place!

The lead has now changed hands! u/Even-Suggestion-9085's crown has been taken away, as he is now in 8th with 80 penalty points! Indeed, none of the previous top 3 now retain their spots with ba0bo0 falling to 11th and detroit1time hanging on in 4th, within striking distance.

As with the top 3, the bottom 3 are also now completely changed! u/Deranged-Octopus12 and the legendary nlzza (that's me lol) have climbed to 14th with 86 penalty points whilst Ok-Lab3251 has shot all the way up from dead last to 6th place! The funniest part is that both times the bottom place had 2 people, and both times the penalty of bottom place was 110.

Overall, the penalties are decreasing as the season progresses. Which makes sense given the rise of heavyweights like Razzies and Speeders and the fall of underdogs like Flares.

Yes, I am at the bottom 😂 The maximum penalty one can have is 128, which doesn't make things any better.

Form Responses 1 contains the responses as well as the rankings and penalties of each player.

Current Standings contains the current standings of the ML teams.

Dashboard was meant to include interesting graphs but right now only has one pie chart.

Visualisations 1 shows each player's predictions from 1 to 16.

Visualisations 2 shows for each team how many voted for it to finish at a particular rank.

Some interesting observations:

• Hazers were the most popular winner choice with no less than 7 people (nearly a third of the field) predicting them to win this ML.
• Bumblebees were the second most popular winner choice with 3 votes.
• Surprisingly, no one predicted CCE, Speeders, or Snowballs to win. (also Team Plasma but that isnt a surprise)
• The most common prediction was Team Plasma to finish dead last with 9 people! And only 4 predicted a top half finish for them. Over half the field predicted them to finish in bottom 3! (9 predictions of 16 and 5 of 14; none for 15 funnily enough)

Predict the final standings at the end of the 16 events. You will get penalty points for each team calculated as the absolute difference between your prediction and their actual end of season rank e.g: I predict Bumblebees finish 8 but they finish 3 so penalty is 5.

The winner(s) at the end of the season is the one with lowest penalty.

You can submit this form if you wish to participate. Form will be closed right before event 2 (my intention was to close before the start but got late making this)
