Questions about Driving to Bansko in December

Hello everyone,

We are visiting Bulgaria for Christmas this year and will spend some time there in December. We have heard many things about Bansko/Banya and were thinking about making a trip out there for a few days.

We are staying mainly in Plovdiv so the drive will be from there to Bansko. We will have a rental car and are concerned about the mountain roads in the winter. I am from California and don't have much experience driving mountain roads in the winter so I am wondering how safe the drive from Plovdiv to Bansko would be.

Also, we won't be skiing or snowboarding so is Bansko worth the trip? If not, are there any recommendations for places to visit during Christmas time?

Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

Need Help "Filtering" Through the BS - Pun Intended

Hello,

Like the title suggests, I am in need of some advice and direction. My family and I recently moved to a city in Southern California called Ladera Ranch. Depending on where you live, you may have seen that our city has made the news for having multiple extremely rare cancer in a very small amount of time. As a result, the people of LR are trying to ask our local officials to investigate.

In the meantime, many of us residents are struggling to see through the BS of misinformation, fake news, and all the other stuff that comes with the big "C." Many people believe many things are the cause but at the end of the day, until we have definitive testing and research done, everyone is just guessing.

Upon some of my research, it appears a Reverse Osmosis system can help remove harmful carcinogens from our drinking water. But like I said there is tons of misinformation around these types of topics so that is why I am coming to you for your advice.

Do RO systems actually remove these types of chemicals or is it just BS and people trying to sell you things? If they do remove these chemicals, what would be the best type of system for my application? My main concerns are things like PFAS and nitrates or other chemicals from pesticides that are heaving used in our immediate area.

Are there effective at home test kits or independent testing that would show that carcinogens are in my water?

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. And sorry if this type of "dumb question" post is not allowed. Thank you!
