We're going in July for 6 nights with an almost 5 year old and almost 3 year old. It is my 40th birthday celebration as well. My thought is to not make any restaurant reservations given my kid's ages. Is that a good call?

As for parks, I would like to go to Xcaret Park one day. Is it too much to also go to Xel-Ha one day? I see that is a set departure and return time so if we're miserable there, then we're stuck?

While at Xcaret Park, should we try for the Espectacular show?

Any other tips would be much appreciated! If you say "just stay at the resort and soak it in," I'm not completely opposed to that.
