4th of July gratitude for our wildland firefighters

On the 250th anniversary of our country’s founding I offer my gratitude, appreciation, and really my flat-out awe of the wildland firefighting community that is currently working around the clock to protect our forests, communities and lives.

There is no better exemplification of the virtues that have always made me proud to be an American: strength, grit (SO MUCH GRIT), tenacity, hope, altruism, bravery in the face of the utterly terrifying, and last but most important - the inclination to serve the communities that make up our melting pot.

The fireworks and parties mean precisely zero to me today, what I’m grateful for is the hope that these amazing men and women give me for the future of our country. At a moment where integrity is in vanishingly short supply, these folks are demonstrating that it’s not dead.

As you celebrate with your friends and family today please keep the noblest of American nobility in your hearts, thoughts and prayers.

They are very literally risking their lives to save us. Look no further to see the very best that our country has raised, take inspiration from their commitment to public service, and may we all consider on this momentous 250th anniversary of the birth of a great nation what it is that WE are willing to sacrifice to defend it.

❤️

Hi friends, like the post says I have a '98 R1100GS that needs some love - specifically it needs to have the tank drained and fuel lines replaced. The BMW shop in Denver won't touch it 'cause it's old (I didn't want to drive it up there anyway..)

Having recently relocated to Durango I figure the best thing to do is ask the community - anyone have a mechanic they can recommend?

Hi friends, I recently moved back to Durango after a stretch of living in the Front Range and am in need of space to park two small trailers - one is a 4x6 utility trailer, the other a 6x14 raft trailer.

I'm open to a monthly payment, trade for use of either or both of the trailers, or any other arrangement that is appealing. I also have a 6 night Deso trip permitted for May 25th-31st for any boaters that would consider an invitation to join the trip as a sweetener on this kind of deal - already have the trip planned but will happily make room for the right person.

The trailers don't need to be covered, I just need a place where I can get them off the street to keep the neighbors happy. The prices I'm being quoted by storage places in town are extortionate - hoping that this post might lead to both a solution for my trailer situation and the start of a relationship with a new local boating friend, thanks for your consideration!
