Usually in the late game I only manually battle if I lose a unit, because, while I enjoy the battle system, there are just too many battles at the end of a game to manually do them all. However with unnatural recovery I just never have to manually battle and the end game just becomes me clicking auto resolve over and over. It's also a massive boost if you're using something like the tome of gluttony because units will basically never die and can keep stacking demonic hunger and gaining experience which makes it hard to justify not taking it.
