Nice little update

Added expected departure times to the old style signs. This is an EOL station, where the train sits up to 20 minutes. The scheduled departure is 7:30 AM; it’s also adjusted for real time.

iPhone app help

Does anyone here know the exact steps to set up auto load of BART HVD passes without requiring a backup card when there is an existing but invalid card currently stored as backup.

It will not allow me to set up autoload with an invalid backup.
It will not allow me to delete the backup card.

I called Clipper support already, and the person I talked to told me they couldn’t delete it but promised that it was fixed, it wasn’t.

If i go to Account Settings -> Payment Methods and click the “Edit” button then click “Remove” then “Confirm Removal” with “Yes, Remove,” it gives the error message “This payment method cannot be removed because it is currently being used for auto-reload.” Since its an invalid card, it obviously would fail as an auto reload card. I should be able to set up auto reload without the backup.

When i open the Clipper card itself in the app, it shows the remnant balance of my current HVD ($7.35, too low to cover even a single ride on my commute), and says “Auto-reload Off.” When I navigate to “Load cash value or passes” -> “Add Transit Pass” -> “BART” -> “BART HVD Purse $45.00” it says the opposite, “Auto-reload Enabled” and lists both my primary payment method and the old, invalid card as backup. If I click “Change” on the invalid card, it does not give an option to delete it. If I try to check out from there, it stops on the “Payment Method” screen complaining that the invalid card is expired. If I click “Change,” from there, once again it doesn’t give the option to simply delete the unnecessary backup.

I posted to /r/bayareaclippercard a few days ago, but that post just sits there “awaiting moderator approval.”

Ghost delivery

After several weeks of skipping, this week I ordered three meals x two servings. The app showed them as shipping. Yesterday evening, they showed up as shipped, although there was no tracking link supplied. Early this afternoon, they showed up as delivered. Nothing outside on my porch.

So I called customer support. The account is in my wife's name. There was about a 5 minute rigmarole because I have a male voice and they wanted to add me as an authorized agent on the account. Fortunately it was on speaker and my wife was right there to spell our name six times (Why yes, we do have the same unusual last name. Does copy and paste not work on their back end?) and tell them to use the same email address and shipping address.

Next, the agent tells me that according to their system, we had selected meals but not placed the order. They told me nothing had been charged and nothing had shipped. No explanation for why the app was showing progression from ordered to shipped to delivered. Just saying they were selected but not ordered, and that I was not charged. It must be a known bug, because the agent had no trouble believing what the app said but repeated that their system had no indication placing or shipping the order.

So now HF wants to make it a mystery every week whether they're actually shipping anything when they say it has been shipped, and even claim to have delivered orders that they never sent? No, thank you. Cancelled.

I confirmed via the CC site that I wasn't charged; that'll be a quick dispute if they make the attempt later.

Any recommendations for an alternative service?

The Pleasanton school board recently voted to cut costs by reducing the length of the elementary school day. They’re doing it by eliminating science specialists for grades 1-3 and cutting the number of PE teachers for grades 1-5 in half. Instead, starting this fall classroom teachers will be expected to cover the same science material and half the state mandated PE requirement within the shortened day.

The survey is asking how parents would prefer to shorten the day. Classroom time will be a total of about 90 minutes shorter per week. It could be starting about 20 minutes later every day, ending 20 minutes earlier every afternoon, or perhaps by radically shortening one day per week. There is no choice that leads to more time or even the same amount of time in the classroom. Layoff notices have already been sent to affected teachers. You are only being asked how to change the bell schedules to accommodate the reductions.
