A guide to sleeping post hip scope

Source: Side sleeper with 4 hip scopes

Tl’dr: This and - if a side sleeper- this have been game changers for me.

Recently had my 4th hip scope (and first recon) and my sleep set-up this go round is allowing me to have (what is for me) pretty high quality sleep. My restrictions: 0° IR, 0° ER and <90° flexion and I am a slide sleeper.

This leg pillow from Amazon - with a towel inside the negative space to make it a bit smaller - has been a complete game changer to prevent IR or ER during the night. I’ve tried countless reccos and this is the only approach that has worked for me over the course of 4 surgeries.

And then, this weighted pillow - placed over my head and tucked in a bit - allows me to turn my head to the side and mimic the sensation of side sleeping enough where I can fall asleep.

My last 3 surgeries I probably slept no more than 5 consecutive hours because my hip hurt from IR/ER or I just didn’t like sleeping on my back.

Decline DFO for Femoral Anteversion?

Curious if anyone here was told they had femoral anteversion, felt pain during the exam but declined a DFO? Would love to hear any outcomes and experiences!
