SODIS?
Has anyone on the show tried solar water disinfection to obtain potable water?
This seems like a quite well studied method of making water safe to drink, see e.g. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8201346/ and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar\_water\_disinfection
The studies are mostly in clear enclosed containers which aren’t available on the equipment list, but a shallow pool in a tarp left in full sun for a day or two seems like it would perform about as well. There is some limited studies on open-air reactors, e.g. https://jpoll.ut.ac.ir/article\_53929.htmlhttp%3A/jpoll.ut.ac.ir/article\_87464.html
… and same question for slow sand filters: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slow\_sand\_filter
Am I missing a reason why this isn’t more commonly done? Boiling all drinking water seems crazily labor intensive compared to other options.
