23F first time in Europe — safe & budget-friendly youth hostel recommendations for one night in Salzburg?
Hi everyone,
I’m a 23F and this will be my first time travelling to Europe for Summer School so I’m feeling a bit nervous and wanted some local advice.
I’ll be landing in Salzburg and then heading to my campus in Strobl, but because of my arrival timing I’ll need somewhere to stay for just one night before I can check into my campus accommodation the next day.
I’m currently looking into youth hostels because I’m a student, so I’m trying to find something safe but also budget-friendly. I’d really appreciate some local insights because I’m not very familiar with hostel culture or accommodation arrangements in Europe.
A few things I was wondering:
Are youth hostels in Salzburg generally safe, especially for solo female travelers?
Is it normal to book a hostel for just one night?
What kind of budget should I realistically expect for student-friendly accommodation for a night?
Would you recommend a private room or are shared dorms generally okay?
Are there any specific hostels or areas you would recommend (or avoid)?
Thank you in advance for any advice :)
