Elevator Roulette (Four of Hearts)

Four of Hearts

Game: Elevator Roulette

Venue: Hotel

Player Limit: 8

Time Limit: 8 Rounds

Set-Up: Players enter the venue, ride the elevator to floor 24 and divide into 4 pairs. Rules are explained then each pair must decide who is the controller and who is the rider.

Rules: Each pair has a controller and a rider. The rider enters one of the four elevators at random and starts at floor 1. The controller has access to camera footage from all 25 floors. Taggers are stationed outside certain elevators on certain floors. The controller will speak with the rider and tell them which floor is safe. The controller does not know which elevator their rider is in. Each round the rider will select one floor to travel to. The elevator cannot go down or remain on the same floor. If the elevator door opens to reveal a tagger the elevator player receives

a GAME OVER. On round 8, any rider at floor 24 receives a GAME CLEAR. The controller must now select which elevator their partner rider was in. If selected correctly, the controller receives a GAME CLEAR. If selected incorrectly or there is no elevator available for them to enter, the controller receives a GAME OVER.

Explanation: Floor 25 has taggers at all four elevators. Each elevator has a cue for which one it is, the rider or controller should notice as long as they are moderately observant. Elevator one makes a “thud” sound before opening. Elevator two has a bright white light instead of a warm yellow light in the other elevators. Past floor 10 the hallways light changes to make this nearly indistinguishable from the cameras. Elevator three has a louder sing when it arrives to a new floor. Elevator four has no differentiator. The controller must notice this and stake their riders life on this observation. Moving to only safe floors will rise too quickly so you run out of rounds and are forced to floor 25. When the controller enters the elevator they must stake their own life on this observation. Players will die if they don’t trust their observations in favor of mathematically “safer” floors.

Nine of Hearts

Game: Borrowed Time

Venue: Office Building

Time Limit: Varies

Player Limit: 10-25 players

Set-Up: All players put on an explosive collar with a large red button on the back. Each player has a phone with an individual time limit. These limits are assigned randomly and range from 3 minutes to 30 minutes.

Rules: All players have a different time limit. Pressing the red button on another player’s collar will immediately kill that player and add their remaining time to the surviving players total. When all surviving players have a time limit of at least 20 minutes, it is Game Clear for those players.

Explanation: The longer the game goes on the fewer players will be able to clear it. The game intentionally places different players in different roles depending on their time limit, so players starting with low time must kill and players with high time are targets. The venue is large and open enough, you need teammates to literally guard your back or else someone could physically attack and reach your button. As time goes on, everyone will get more desperate and all players start scraping to both be above the 20 minute limit and ensure that all players below it are dead so the game can end.
