Tips for achieving this hairstyle/texture at home?

Usually would go to a barber or salon/stylist for this, but salon is expensive and barber isn't great at layering longer hair (most of his clients either ask for buzzes or fades).

  1. How realistic is it for me to be able to cut my own hair and get it somewhat close to the first image without completely ruining it / accidentally giving myself a bowl cut? Should I just go to the hair stylist?

  2. Any quick and easy tricks I can do to cut my hair to make it look better? I've seen a few videos on layering by TheSalonGuy on youtube, but I'm hesitant as my hand coordination isn't the best and I don't want to lose any fingers in the process.

Thanks in advance.

Looking for sludge band recommendations as a grunge listener

Title. Besides grunge, I also listen to a good amount of metalcore, nu-metal, post hardcore and skramz/screamo.

Favourite grunge records that are considered to incorporate sludge elements:

- All of Alice in Chains self titled/Tripod album (esp Sludge Factory and God Am)

- 4th of July by Soundgarden

- Paper Cuts by Nirvana

Favourite sludge records that I have listened to so far:

- Bleed Me an Ocean, The Blue, Paegen Love Song and Dead Venus Blue by Acid Bath

- Thou's Nirvana tribute (shame they're not on Spotify anymore, had to look for it on youtube)

- REPULSIVE IN ITS SPENDID BEAUTY by Crowbar
