Still 1 TB on Proton Duo

Still 1 TB on Proton Duo

I still seem to have 1 TB on Proton Duo instead of 2. Is it normal, is it still rolling out? Or is it a bug? I’m not using that much yet but I plan to at some point

SOLVED: I just needed to create a family group and allocate the available space.

Please consider making Proton Mail and Drive self-updating

Since you’re not willing to remove the dependency on Play Services (yet?) to make it into F-Droid, could you please make the APKs downloaded from the website self-update, like Telegram and Readest do? It would at least remove dependency on Google Play / Aurora Store.

Long Vivaldi sessions not closing after 8.0

  • Ubuntu 22.04
  • Vivaldi 8.0+

When Vivaldi has been running for a while (like, several hours, maybe most of the day), and then I press Super + Q (my system shortcut for closing the current app) or click the close button in GNOME Overview, it doesn’t close. It used to work on previous versions and still works if the session is relatively new.

Also, when there has been an update (after 8.0), and the “Restart” button appears, it’s not clickable, even the button background doesn’t change on hover. Again, only if the browser has been running for a while.

killall vivaldi-bin always works.

In case it’s relevant:

  1. I use policies to clear history on exit (so I don’t have to use Vivaldi’s internal closing shortcut and can rely on a universal system one). /etc/chromium/policies/managed/clear_history.json:

    { "ClearBrowsingDataOnExitList": ["browsing_history", "download_history"] }

    But this does not get triggered on killall, only when normal closing works.

  2. I install extensions declaratively for ease of backup, via /opt/vivaldi/extensions/*, e. g. bkhdlfmkaenamnlbpdfplekldlnghchp.json:

    {
        "name": "JPEG XL Viewer",
        "external_update_url": "https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx"
    }

    (The name field is unused, it’s for my own convenience.)

Vivaldi 8.1 doesn’t open!

  • OS: Ubuntu 22.04.5
  • Vivaldi version: 8.1.4087.46-1

After the upgrade, it stopped opening. I tried launching it from the terminal and got this:

λ> vivaldi
cat: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_ABI_DT_RELR' not found (required by /var/opt/vivaldi/media-codecs-8.1-149-Z-20260618/libffmpeg.so)
cat: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_ABI_DT_RELR' not found (required by /var/opt/vivaldi/media-codecs-8.1-149-Z-20260618/libffmpeg.so)

Downgrading back to 8.0.4033.57-1 solves the issue.

Why do context menus block system keys?!

In many apps, including GTK ones, open context menus prevent Overview from opening on Super for some reason. And in Telegram, for example, they also block Caps Lock (I use it to switch between keyboard layouts). Why are ordinary apps allowed to to block system-wide keys/shortcuts?

(At least on X11, haven’t tried Wayland.)

[Android] Please add a toggle to disable the floating bottom bar in letter view

It looks stupid and is completely pointless. Design should complement functionality, not just add random stuff.

(Slightly) rounded corners in general are beautiful, but there is absolutely zero reason to make something floating and rounded next to an edge where it should just stick to the edge.

Why would you artificially make elements stack on top of each other and obstruct each other when you already had a nice flat layout neatly separated into rectangular areas?
