Cellular Sales is Not Worth It
I understand sales is based on... sales. If you don't have customers, you don't earn money. I work for Cellular Sales, a third-party retailer of Verizon. I make 100% commissions for my position. We have had very, VERY low foot traffic in store. They are punishing us AND ALL STORES IN THE MARKET with store based requirements. If the WHOLE store doesn't hit the target, NONE of the employees are allowed to choose their schedules (aka you come to work when they say, you little b*tch. We own you and your time. Go ahead and complain.) Upper management, WHO NEVER WORKS ON THE FLOOR, will choose the days and times you work. They also tell us reps to slide shit under the rug like mobile protection ($19/mo) or perks (min $10/mo for the cheapest ones). Cellular Sales is VERY predatory. They WILL try to hide stuff. They WILL try to convince you. They ARE built on lying. Even my boss messaged me AT 10PM asking me to take his shift. I say no, and he gives me a passive aggressive response? I am not omnipotent and able to control foot traffic, nor are we paid to do so. I entirely ignored his message, finding it very rude to demand I just make customers appear?? He can eat my sweaty socks for free.
Word for word:
Him: Would you like to open tomorrow?
Me: Pass. It's my one of two days off and foot traffic has been so bad.
Him: What have you done to change the outcome?
You want me to change FOOT TRAFFIC? YOU WANT ME TO FIX LACK OF CUSTOMERS WHEN MOST ARE FINANCIALLY STRUGGLING IN THE US RN???
AITA?
Edit: To y'all implying I'm being lazy - I've reach out to 108 people last month alone. I hand out business cards to random ass people and businesses. I check invoices from over a year old and reach out to them, even if they have a current rep that contacts them already. Crazy how the immediate reaction is "OP doesn't try." That same manager trying to give me his shift has been actively trying to avoid coming into our store specifically for over a month. If that doesn't say enough, lick boot elsewhere. Bless.
