Distro Dev

I'm making a distro based on Alpine Linux called Dragony! Yes, i know i have to edit /etc/os-release, edit /etc/motd, edit /etc/issue and if the GRUB\_DISTRIBUTOR isn't linked to /etc/os-release or /etc/lsb-release i have to edit /etc/default/grub (and reconfig). Some of you have any tips?

Esclusione di Debian

Why does *everyone* use Hyprland on Arch or Nix and not on Ubuntu? Technically it supports the same packages, it's just not lightweight as Arch. To be fair, this applies to all Debian-based distros. Tell why in the comments, please!

Bro what did i say wrong 😭

It says that Ubuntu 26.04 requires a minimium of 6GB RAM, and if you see the specsheet it is True. But hey, at least i got 115 views on that comment 🥹

Ubuntu «Standard»

Can i still ask something in Ubuntu Ask and Ubuntu Forums even if i use an ubuntu flavor like lubuntu and not the «original» (supported by Canonical) one which has Unity (in legacy versions) and GNOME?

Which is the best distro?

I've tried alot of distros, but i always end up distrohopping. I know this is subjective but for you?

I tried Lubuntu, Debian, ChromiumOS, ChromeOS (which i personally don't really like), Arch Linux, CachyOS...

I ended up distrohopping miserably.

Ubuntu on a frickin diet

I currently have Linux Mint, it works well for my hardware, but it's boring. I know that Ubuntu now requires 6GB RAM, and uses a patched version of GNOME with "ADs" (i don't believe that they're really ADs) and snaps. Believe it or not, i personally tried Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, it's good and all but it has not so much life left. Recently, in April of 2026, Ubuntu released a new non-long term version, Ubuntu 26.04. I really like it, but these are my specs:

4GB RAM

Intel Celeron (of 2013)

Intel HD Graphics 2500 (Ivy Bridge)

500GB HDD 5400rpm

I obviously don't fit in the requirements. Is there a way to have the exact look & feel of Ubuntu 26.04 but with less memory? Otherwise i'm just gonna stay on Linux Mint, but i want Ubuntu so bad. i heard of Ubuntu flavors, but i'm asking specifically for having the Ubuntu GNOME desktop on this little specs. Thanks!
