I've got two different cameras that both have black and white viewfinders with extreme white balance issues. It's to the point that it's almost impossible to tell what you're looking at through them.

Models are Panasonic PV-220D(1986) OmniMovie and Panasonic PV-42(1992) Palmcorder.

I purchased a 220D about two months ago for $20. It came with a hardcase and some batteries but no charger. After searching for chargers and/or new batteries - I decided to modify one of the originals.

It's not hard, just cut into the top section along the seam and separate it carefully from the body. It helps if your battery is 30-40 years old and the insides are dust.

Gut it and get all the old dried up electricity out of it. Bonus points if you don't wear any kind of skin protection/eye protection/lung protection. "Just drill blindly into batteries" as my grandpa used to say. He died in an unrelated electrical fire. RIP.

Next half assed measure your new battery pack and decide there's no turning back so you're going to just have to make it all work...

I used a dremel to remove plastic and old metal bits from the body and "lid".

I also drilled a hole for the charger port barrel plug.

Cut the original solder from the positive and negative terminals and solder your new wires to it. Plug everything together and practice good cable management to get it all in. Zip tie the shit out of it and glue it all back together.

I got impatient and did a test run in the camcorder before final sanding and paint to see if it works, and it does!
