G30 LCI Start/Stop OFF
G30 LCI comes without a Start/Stop OFF button.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the mild hybrid start/stop, I keep it active all the time, except some rare occasions when it‘s a bit annoying, like for example when parking in tight spaces, the engine turns OFF each time I switch from Reverse to Drive.
So I noticed the pre-LCI button fits perfectly and the connector is identical. Moreover the car has already all the necessary hardware and software implemented. The button works without coding and even the LEDs light up when the car is in Sport mode.
Tearing apart the old button, I noticed that the rubber conductive pads are there for the Start/Stop OFF, as well as the LEDs. The LEDs were working but they were hidden by a black plastic cover so that the user won’t see them. So only the physical moving part was missing.
So to sum up BMW fully implements a function but bars the user from using it, by means of a cheap black plastic cover.
Really, BMW?
