Nausea and addiction
Last Christmas, I bought astroneer for my kids on Xbox as a fun thing for us to do. We played for a couple hours together. They were somewhat interested. The first night I ended up playing alone until 4am. I was hooked on the resource collection and building.
I played everyday for a week. It was no longer something I did with my kids. I was up every night late into the night, sometimes pulling all nighters.
Then came the nausea.
After several hours of playing one night i became so sick. I ran to the toilet and violently barfed. Figured it was just food poisoning. Then the next day it happened again. And again. And again. I tried to control it. I tried to take breaks. I couldn’t. I was so hooked on the game but with it came nausea if I played more than an hour.
After some research, I discovered i was not alone. Others reported the same symptoms. Turns out it was from the third person camera?
Anyway eventually I got all the crystals on the satellite or whatever it’s called. I reached completion and was able to stop. Fun game though.
