Maybe y'all can appreciate this song I made about being ACE in this world

Choose

Picked him like a pill from a row

Big hands, dead eyes  let him go

Used my skin to make him stay
Felt nothing, but I let him anyway

I played the part, I stayed real still
Called it love  it made me ill

I let them in, I let them lie
They called me warm, I watched the sky
I hate them now, I hate it all
But I still ache when nights won’t crawl

Tried again with softer hands
Different smile, same demands
Still check boxes, still pretend
Still want silence in the end

They call it love  I want to scream
It’s not a spark, it’s just routine

I let them in, I let them lie
They called me home, I closed my eyes
I don’t want this, I want out
But I still ache, I still doubt

So I shut it off  flip the switch
No more hunger, no more glitch

I let them in, I let them go
I never felt it. Still don’t know.
And if there’s more than this machine
Then let it break without me

40% of kids can't read at a basic level, and everyone is blaming the wrong thing

I see this everywhere, every day… screamed from the mountaintops! And the numbers back the screaming: 40% of American 4th graders now read below even the basic level. But the problem with all of this noise is that none of it actually goes after the root cause. People blame tech, they blame AI, and they blame tools… but never squarely in the camp where it would do actual work, because the root cause of all of it requires the thing that caused it. Avoidance of hard work and profit. By this I mean all outputs of it.

We hand children technology without ever teaching them how to use it, because it's the easy button to get them to shut up and leave us alone, thus avoiding the hard work of parenting.

We stopped teaching phonics and started teaching the Whole Language method, which uses three-cueing to guess a word based on context, sound and shape, or MSV (Meaning, Syntax, and Visual), because it was easier and quicker. And… they knew. The National Reading Panel concluded back in 2000 that daily phonics instruction is necessary for literacy. The biggest cueing-based products shipped after that. Heinemann, the publisher, did $1.6 billion in sales in the 2010s selling the easy way, and when they got caught, they sold phonics back to schools as a paid "update." We bought the easy button, then paid for it twice.

When pushback from teachers happened, they were punished by administrations… because for them it was an easier path to money. Teachers taught it because that was the easier path to maintaining their job. Teachers tried to fight back with grades, but to administrators… it was easier and more profitable to shut parents up (who were complaining about unfair grades) by passing the children forward. Average GPAs climbed from 3.17 to 3.36 while ACT scores fell. The head of the Department of Education’s research team titled his warning "Education Runs on Lies." While states lowered their own definitions of "proficient" so their report cards looked good.

People talk about the "No Child Left Behind", but the problem that created was people started teaching the test… because it was easier than trying to get to the answers in the traditional way.

Then we made tools to make work faster, easier and more profitable, and coupled it with text to speech and spoken responses, which while designed for the sight impaired, became the crutch for those who wanted more ease and also now couldn't read. Combining that with a pervasive attitude that reading is uncool, and making it relational to gender, "reading is for pussies”, and you have a mass avoidance from every angle, including not even being properly taught.

And before anyone reaches for "COVID" or "poverty”, the decline started more than a decade before the pandemic. Mississippi, the poorest state in the country, banned the guessing method, forced phonics, and watched its scores climb from 49th place to #1 in the national rankings.

And now those who grew up in this system, who have been coddled by ease from the start, are using the tools we never taught them to use to mask their deficits and enable the constant chase of "the easy button." They're adults now, and it's measurable: 28% of American adults read at the lowest literacy level, up from 19%. Older Americans score above the international average, while younger Americans score below. We didn't just fail some kids. We failed a generation.

And let me guess… you want a TL;DR?

Desperately seeking an episode of Lights Out

I swear I remember listening to this when I was younger. I used to listen to old Time radio out of KNX 1070 from Los Angeles so I don’t think this is one of the lost episodes and maybe I’m wrong but my brain is telling me that it’s arch Obler‘s lights out.
The plot is about a man who goes to a statuary and finds a statue of a beautiful woman, and when he brings it home, he realizes that the statue was warm to the touch. He becomes obsessed with it and starts chiseling away at it to find out why it is warm. I feel like the whole episode was about his spiral into madness, the end of the episode, he breaks through to the center of the statue and flames burst out and burn him and his whole house down the episode ends with the cops showing up and they find the statue there intact with no hole in it, and one of the officers says that it’s the goddess of fire.
I have been searching for this episode for years and cannot find it!

Some of the sources say that the pre-1936 stuff has been lost, but if it was lost, then can’t 1070 couldn’t have broadcast it! Can anybody help?

On May 1st I recieved an email saying that i had funds in Coinbase and I needed to log in.

I went and attempted to sign into my account (direct from a google search this was not a scam email) only to find out my account was old and had an old phone number. Since the creation of this account i had changed my legal name and phone number. I contacted their support Case# 26550859 and explained the situation

I was responded to and asked to provide my information, which I did in the form of all my legal documentation. at this point they updated the account and i proceeded to log in

upon logging in i was asked to verify my identity with my documentation through the coinbase app

I did this and proceeded to log in

i then went to change my phone number so that i could regain access to 2fa

the system asked me to verify my identy again with my id

this suceeded and now i was getting texts

then i went to the buy and sell page to sell the BTC This screen to sell asked me to verify my documentation AGAIN

once AGAIN I provided the documentation in the app

I recieved the confirmation screen you are all set, THEN when i hit continue I got the error "We couldn't verify your identity" this after having already done so multiple times as listed above"

at this point i start traying to resolve the problem myself

I tried the desktop website in both chrome and safari, both failed

i tried a second phone via the app and safari, this failed

i rebooted my 1st phone and tried again with the app and safari, both of these failed

i reached out to support again to tell them my problem

they responded with

verify your identity

to which i tried again all of the methods, each of these times the screen either said success to be followed by an error screen OR you have reached maximum attempts wait 1 hour

i followed up with email support again describing what was happening as above

they AGAIN said "well just go verify your identity"

this time I waited 24 hours and tried again

then i got phone support Case #26573981

to which she once again said "veify your identity" and sent me emails with the links

once AGAIN this did NOT work and once again i was told it was my fault and i needed to wait anotther 24 hours

I waited another 24 hours after explaining to her at length that I have already done this several times and that the problem was not my end

she promised that after 24 hours it would work and that if it didn't she would escalate me and promised i would succeed one way or another

i waited 24hrs AGAIN and contacted coinbase support AGAIN

Case #26581168

this time the first email worked and i verified my documents

i was directed to try to proceed again to the buy sell screen

i recieved an on screen error of

we couldn't verify your identity AGAIN

the agent said okay we need to VERIFY YOUR IDENTITY

to which he provided 2 more VERIFY IDENTITY links

which did not work and he then told me "you have to wait 24 hrs again"

I once again reiterated and explained in depth that i have been in this endless loop for 4 days now and would like to be escalated

agent refused in every way possible making my only choice to yet AGAIN wait ANOTHER 24hrs, where i am to go VERIFY MY IDENTY ANOTHER 2 MORE TIMES

with 2 links, which at this point i do not believe will work at all

May 1st, May 3rd, May 4th, May 5th

I have filed a case with the CFPB 60505-32274074

and then i tried to file a complaint with coinbase itself, to which THAT page has a verification check that verifies your email, which the EMAIL SUCCEEDS, but GUESS WHAT.. THE PAGE DOES NOT.. just says "pending verification" even tho the email successfully sent and GOT the confirmation reply and i have now done so with 2 different codes.. to no avail
