3 shades of Czochralski corundum!

3 shades of Czochralski corundum!

The wonders of pulled-sapphire, all rough from Gems of Science: on the left is Red Ruby, middle is Blue Sapphire and the right is Titanium Sapphire.

I went with classic designs for two on the left: a princess cut for the ruby, and a square cushion with rounded girdle for the blue sapphire. The Ti-sapphire is cut in an original elongated hex design. I think the square cushion is my favorite: we don't often see classic designs done with precision in synthetics. I love the soft corners, and the way the design emphasizes the rich blue of the material without complicated reflection patterns and too-much brilliance!

Look at all the pretty lights

This is a design is shared in the USFG Newsletter from March 2023, called "look at all the pretty lights." Cut here in a yellow cerium YAG. Go check out that newsletter issue and cut it for yourself! It's a fairly straightforward design, and looks great from the R.I. of Spinel all the way to the highest R.I.s possible

(if you're not a USFG member, go and join already)
