First Half of the Year Commander Stats

Now that we’re half way through 2026 how has everybody’s commander games been going? Are your new decks working out like you thought they would? Are your old decks still putting up the same numbers as last year or maybe the year before?

I love stats and even though I don’t keep crazy stats like I used to I do still keep some that I think will be useful to me at the end of the year for my deck progress tracking.

With that being said I thought I’d share some with you all today just to see how I have stacked up to everybody else so far.

Each deck I make could be regarded as bracket 2 up to a mid bracket 3. The decks I’ve played against have ranged anywhere from bracket 2 up to bracket 4. Tbh idc what others play and I just play whichever deck I’m feeling at the time regardless or bracket level.

Each of the games recorded are only games with full 4 person pods. I did not include 3 pod games or 5 pod games.

Modified Wakanda Forever Precon

Unfortunately I can’t claim that this deck is fully a “budget” deck currently because the prices for the new cards are still spiking up, but at the end of the day it is just a modified precon with the additions adding up to less than $3 total.

Here is the current deck list:
https://archidekt.com/decks/23451530/wakanda\_forever

My main reason for getting this precon is because after seeing how you can use T’Challa as a voltron commander to create the Vibranium tokens and use them to dump in big artifacts it made me realize that this might finally be the prototype commander I’ve been waiting for all these years!

(I’ve trued to make prototype work at least eight times previously and failed)

I essentially took out the cards that I thought were clogging up the theme of the deck I wanted to focus on and narrowed the deck theme down to dumping in big artifact creatures, aka the prototype creatures, and being the monarch.

Cards I removed:
[[Bast, Panther Goddess]]
[[Hatut Zeraze Strike Force]]
[[Metalwork Colossus]]
[[Meteor Golem]]
[[Wakandan War Panther]]
[[Harmonize]]
[[Valorous Stance]]
[[N’Yami-Class Mother Ship]]
[[Orbital Vibranium Bomb]]
[[Panther Idol]]
[[Royal Talon Fighter Jet]]
[[Vibranium Mining Mech]]
[[Whispersilk Cloak]]
[[Divine Visitation]]
[[Sungrass Prairie]]

These are the cards I added and the reasons why.

Monarch cards:
[[Palace Sentinels]]
[[Staunch Throneguard]]

Prototype cards:
[[Rootwire Amalgam]]
[[Cradle Clearcutter]]
[[Steel Seraph]]
[[Boulderbranch Golem]]
[[Combat Thresher]]
[[Iron-Craw Crusher]]
[[Rust Goliath]]
[[Woodcaller Automaton]]

Other artifact 4CMC or higher cards:
[[Clone Shell]]
[[Sandstone Oracle]]

Other cards:
[[Your Temple Is Under Attack]]
[[Board the Weatherlight]]
[[Garruk’s Uprising]]

With that being said I don’t really know if my changes can really be considered upgrades or not, but they make me happy because I can try to make prototype work again lol

Let me know what you think and if you upgraded your precon as well 🙏🏼

Custom Stuff for My Deck!

I finally got some fun stuff in the mail to use in one of my favorite deck so I thought I’d make a post to see what kind of things everybody else uses to make their decks more personalized.

I think getting custom stuff made like alters or tokens that are unique to your deck is one of the most fun ways to “bling” your decks out.

So what’s something you use to make your deck feel more special to you?

What’s with the Arcane Card?

This may have been posted about already and I missed it, but what’s with the one random card in the Marvel set that has Arcane stapled to it?

Did it get mentioned somewhere that it’s relevant to the set and I just didn’t see it? Just seems weird to me because it’s the only card that has it 🤔

Edit: I was informed there was a second card that has it as well called Hex Magic. So my apologies. There are two cards that have Arcane in the set!

Under $50 Omnath, Locus of All Deck

I know a lot of people aren’t fans of [[Omnath, Locus of All]] because they think he’s too strong as a 5C commander, but I can assure you this is not one of those builds! This is one of my favorite pet decks right now because it’s a deck I can throw any random mechanic or theme in and try to make it work!

Currently my Omnath deck is a Domain/Vivid/Max Speed deck with sprinkles of other things that care about being able to use 5C to your advantage.

https://archidekt.com/decks/12690681/omnath_locus_of_all

The main theme of the deck is being able to trigger your Domain and Vivid cards by having your commander out and all your basic land types.

In order to achieve this you want to have out Omnath as he’s 5C and will trigger your Vivid cards to their fullest extent each time you cast them, but if that becomes hard to do for whatever the reason might be I also have backup commanders in the deck like [[Transguild Courier]] and [[Jared Carthalion]] who also can trigger your Vivid spells of need be.

Next to achieve the most of your Domain specific cards I’ve got not only a good amount of basic lands but some of my favorite very specific cards like [[Navigator’s Compass]] that can turn any land into the basic land type you are missing and [[Unstable Frontier]] that can turn itself into whichever land type you are missing so you can make sure you always have all five basic lands.

Then we also have the Max Speed mechanic which I love but could never really make work in any of my other deck till now. It’s one of those extra throw in side quest things that doesn’t need to actually be achieved but it doesn’t hurt anything if it is. So although it’s a focus of the deck it’s much less important than the other two. But if you achieve it you get the benefit of using cards like [[Vnwxt, Verbose Host]], [[Samut, the Driving Force]], [[Hour of Victory]], and a handful of others.

One of the other upsides to Omnath, which also is a downside, is that you’re playing a 5C deck and he turns all your floating mana black so to help with this I’ve included not only a couple of my favorite black mana sync spells like [[Pestilence]], [[Greed]], and [[Herald of Hadar]] but also filter spells so I can turn the black mana into any color that I may need. Some of my favorites are [[Foraging Wickermaw]] because it not only helps filter the mana but can help with my Vivid count and [[Prophetic Prism]] because I just love that card. Any of the filters that trade 1/1 is always my go to in these types of decks.

Lastly I’ll touch on some of my favorite cards in the deck that come in as MVPs in mostly any game I play them in. Those cards would be [[Protective Sphere]], [[Case of the Shattered Pact]], [[Incite Hysteria]], and [[Samite Elder]] and although not good in every deck they’re very good in this one!

Anyway that’s all I got and thanks for anyone who read this whole thing. If you have any budget cards you think would be good fun additions to the deck feel free to let me know.

Your Unexpected Wincons

What is your favorite unexpected card, or cards, that help you win you games?

I think out of all my decks my favorite way to win is by creating a bunch of 1/1 Faerie Dragons in my Safana//Feywild Visitor deck then activating Inkfathom Witch. It’s just a fun six mana investment for a lethal swing in a non green deck.

It’s always unexpected and always brings joy to my heart ♥️

What’s that one random card that you always play because it’s saved you more times than you can even count?

Mine is Washout. I don’t really see too many other people playing it but my gosh it has saved me more times than any other card that I play. It’s usually at least a one sided mass bounce when i need it to be, with the upside of bouncing even one or two other players boards too.

Like most of us in this sub I’m a HUGE fan of getting custom alters made by the amazing artists we have in the community, so I thought I’d just take a few minutes here to make a post showing off some of the alters I’ve got done over the years of my favorite commanders!

I can’t even tell you how much joy being able to play these each week brings me! I really love how each artist has their own unique style and how it shows through all the different cards I’ve got done. Especially since each individual artist was awesome to work with and went above and beyond to make sure each one of these cards came out perfect. I can’t thank them enough.

I’ve added each of the artists Reddit pages and Instagram handles under each of their individual pieces they’ve done so everybody is free to go check out their other works as well.

Safana, Calimport Cutthroat and Feywild Visitor done by u/spud_crunchies

Reki, the History of Kamigawa done by u/jom-art

Jyoti, Moag Ancient done by u/revelens_light

Witch-Maw Nephilim done by u/jwipri

Grismold, the Dreadsower done by Durdling Around

Once again I just want to give a huge thanks to anybody who has ever done an alter for me because your art is my favorite part about playing magic 🙏🏼
