Maybe I’m just old but I swear to God, …looking at the headlines and topics of some of the postings on Reddit. I swear I was watching a sci-fi movie from the late 80s early 90s.

run by some maniac running around on ketamine across the world stage knowing he’s rich enough that he doesn’t even need to give two shits about it.

And now what the fuck am I seeing before my very eyes, some motherfucker on Fox News wearing some goddamn plastic face mask trying to deliver some kind of fucking message….. what the fuck is going on right now you guys?.

i’m hitting 50 soon and looking back it really feels like i caught the very tail end of an arc where things actually made sense for regular people. the data actually shows that the mid-20th century was the smallest gap between rich and poor in history and you could actually get by on a normal wage. but now that the ladder has been pulled up and the math for housing and life just doesn’t add up anymore i wonder about the people who never even saw the "good" version of the system. it feels like if you only ever see a rigged game you eventually just drift into total nihilism because why even try if the outcome is already decided. i'm curious if the psychological toll of this wealth gap is actually doing more damage than the financial side of it.
