Corvallis cyclists: What's the best route around the Southtown construction?
Hey everyone,
I recently had to start biking to work because my car is having some mechanical issues. I live near Lincoln Elementary on 3rd in Southtown and work on 9th by Trader Joe's.
For those of you with more experience biking around Corvallis, especially with all the construction in Southtown right now, what would you consider the safest route to and from work?
One thing I'm especially unsure about is heading home. Is taking 3rd southbound under Highway 20/34 generally considered safe, or is there a better option?
I had been using the pedestrian bridge from Shawala Point, but with the sidewalk now closed, it forces people into the Highway 34 on-ramp, which doesn't feel great.
I'd really appreciate any advice. I'm still pretty new to bike commuting. I'm really enjoying the new bike and the extra exercise, but I also tend to overthink things and want to make sure I'm choosing the safest routes.
Thanks!
Southtown Construction
Does anyone know when 3rd will be relatively safe for bikers and pedestrians again? I only recently started commuting by bike and I wish all the cones in the bike lane would be gone, and the pedestrian crosswalks would be open again.
I'm not sure where to look up construction project durations either. If anyone could point me to that info, that would be awesome.
