Debit Card Fraud after buying something at FedEx on 9th

On Monday our debit card was used for the first time in nearly 3 weeks. Right after that and for the next two days the card was used fraudulently in other states. We got notified of the fraud today.

Has anyone else had an experience like this with the FedEx store on 9th?

Maybe it is a coincidence but the fact the card had not been used for weeks makes me suspicious.

Val Holyle vs Melissa Bird

Although I voted for Melissa Bird, I have to breathe a small sigh of relief that Hoyle won the primary. Bird's progressive platform was very appealing, but a tarot-reading lay preacher could have been decimated by negative campaigns from the right.

Next time we need a progressive candidate to challenge Hoyle that wouldn't be so easy to caricature.

Wonderful Wednesday - 5/20/2026

We have the Monday Rage Thread where we rant about things that displease us and it was suggested that we also do the opposite. So here we are.

What is something good that happened to you this week?

What is something wonderful about Corvallis (and the greater Corvallis area)?

Sharing a survey for GEOG 360

Hey guys!! Thank you so much for sharing your responses to my survey last time I posted. I just want to put out the link one more time before we close it! We are interested in learning more about the bike safety habits of people who park their bikes on the OSU campus. If you ride some sort of micromobility(bike, scooter, skateboard) to campus, if you would fill out this survey, that would be amazing! The information from this survey will not be used for anything besides the class project, and if you want more information on how your responses will be used please reach out!!!

Thank you so much for your time 😃

Long shot, but I’ve lost a green hat.

Green hat with a molecular structure on it made of embroidered flowers. Lost in the last few weeks somewhere in town.

Dog Free Apartments

Are there any dog free cat friendly apartments in Corvallis or surrounding areas? The non-stop barking all day and night is just too much. Not to mention the dog poop that gets left behind semi-regularly. Nothing against dogs or even most dog owners. We’re all doing the best we can, and often that means crating dogs while at work or whatever. I’m just hoping to find a place without the noise as I have auditory sensory issues.

Flock License Plate Reader Cameras in Albany. Community Meeting tomorrow, Wednesday May 20, at the River Front Community Center with the Albany City Council.

The Albany Public Safety Commission had a meeting about the Flock surveillance cameras on Monday. They voted 5 to 3 to turn the Flock cameras back on. This was despite almost all of the citizens in attendance opposing the use of these cameras.

There is still time to stop this deployment though.
The next meeting is the Albany City Council Meeting, tomorrow Wednesday May 20 at 5:00 pm.
This meeting will be at the River Front Community Center.
The Albany City Council has the ultimate authority to decide whether the Flock cameras stay or go.

This is a public meeting and people who care are invited to attend and voice their opinions.

If you believe in privacy, civil liberties, and oppose the use of mass surveillance programs using ubiquitous license plate reader cameras that send their data to out of state large data centers that use AI, this is your chance to try and stop these cameras.

Grass pollen already very high

Grass season just got going a couple weeks ago. As of today we have already hit the very high rank on the meter, and it's not even June yet.

Daily updates here from a sampler in Eugene:

https://www.oregonallergyassociates.com/pollen-counts/

EDIT- Oregon Allergy Associates added these reminders at the page linked above:
• Continue taking your allergy medications as prescribed
• Try to limit time outdoors when pollen counts are high
• Keep windows closed when possible and use air filters if available
• Shower and change clothes after being outside

Any chance anyone knows why there’s so many police over by the cul de sac on Lancaster St? Saw like four police cars with their lights on parked on both sides of the street.

Don’t be suspicious…

If you see teenagers sneaking around acting suspicious just know that it’s senior assassin season and they are just trying to get their targets with water. Please don’t be a Karen and/or call the cops.

Weekend activity for sad man in red Corvette

On Saturday, you drove around campus all by yourself in your newer model red Corvette. While generally reserved for older men going through a midlife crisis, you were of college age.

You drove back-and-forth along the street in front of the stadium, continually revving your engine at people standing in line waiting for Fry bread. It was so, so cool.

You then drove around the perimeter of campus revving your engine down stretches of road before having to slam on your brakes at the red light. I understand getting a thrill here or there but is this the best you can do with your free time and extra money? It was a Stark reminder that money cannot buy happiness, or a decent personality. Do better, bro. Everyone was laughing at you.

Yummy Yummy regulars: heat level?

I find the spice level at Yummy Yummy to be perfect, but my wife says it's all too hot for her to handle. (We're talking just the regular dishes, not those marked as "spicy").

Has anyone ever asked for "mild" spice level, and were they able to do it?

This your dog?

Buddy wandered into our front yard this evening. The neighbor took him in for a bit, but he apparently started wreaking havoc so they called animal control.

Hopefully yungin can find their way home! If this is your dog, they’ll be with animal control!
