Porch so far
House is ballon framed so no rim joists for ledger boards. Slab is 12 inches thick, was not removing to find even more 100+ year old surprises under it.
Going to trex with single border figured I get input before it’s too late. Platform is just laying on beams right now, not fastened.

What is the point of this framing?
What I know: House is about 105 years old. House was originally stucco on tongue and groove, which was replaced by plywood and asbestos shingles in likely the 70s, which is the rectangle vent. Currently those shingles are covered by vinyl siding from the 90s which is the round vent. Nothing in this house makes sense. But this one always has me scratching my head extra hard.
What is the point of this triangle framing, I see the square inside is newer lumber prob from 90s but the rest I have no idea. Remnants of tongue and groove or in small triangle as well. Anyone else have the original version of this in their home?
