Forearm problems

Hi all, immediately you would be thinking - this is a forum for TOS, why is there a mention of forearm?

Well this quick post is to create some awareness in terms of the impact of forearm muscles. The majority of my problem was scapula/rotator cuff area but the last piece of the puzzle to fix the remaining symptoms was getting SHOCKWAVE therapy on the muscles/tendons near my pronator teres muscle (which massage didn’t fix).

I mention this as the Doctors were quick to opt to go for surgery in the upper area which would HAVE NOT fixed the whole problem.

This is highly specific so this may not be relevant but thought it worth mentioning as I haven’t seen one post on here as such.

All the best

The hidden fix for my TOS

Hi all,

After many months of several specialists and multiple physiotherapists, the real fix of my TOS was strengthening my rotator cuff muscles.

All the advice online mentions training the serratus anterior and lower trap. Now this has some merit but I was only able to do train this properly AFTER fixing my rotator cuff. I found this out after seeing a Biokineticist who surmised that I have anterior humeral glide on my shoulder bone which not only hindered my scapula mechanics but was also likely putting pressure on my nerves.

The FIX:
Many rotator cuff exercises + self chest and shoulder message paired with significant x3 sets of 3 different angles of pec minor stretches.
I still believe the serratus and lower trap are important but focusing on this alone was not enough.

Moral of the story , physio is there for acute care but in my experience, they weren’t able to fix the cause where the Biokineticist was.

PS lifestyle changes like a low pillow, split keyboard (normal row stagger) and eye level screen was also super nb
