Question: US 250th, CKD kitty gabapentin
Sooo I gave little miss Mimi gabapentin because of the 4th of July. My neighbors normally shoot fireworks right outside my window. She also has a managed heart arrhythmia, so I wanted to make sure she was sedated.
I have to break open a capsule, dissolve it in water, and use a syringe to shoot it in her mouth. She normally spits out half the dose, this time she did not. She got around 50-60 mg and now I’m worried. Anyone else have experience with this dose of gabapentin with their CKD kitty? Was this too much? Is she just going to sleep it off, or should I be concerned?
Edit: my question was answered! she is indeed totally fine. She’s up, no anxiety and acting like her normal self. For those comments telling me to just pill her, some cats aren’t easy to pill and it causes them significant stress, breaks trust, etc. Which is why transdermal meds are soo wonderful. Also, was not my question. My method of delivering her gabapentin has been approved by her vet. I was just worried about the dose, which is what my specific question asked. Thank you to those who answered my question and reassured me!!!
