Clive Davis
Just heard he passed away. I don’t know much about him, but I understand he was instrumental in developing a ton of careers. However, I keep seeing Bob listed as one of them, and despite Clive having been president of Columbia during Dylan’s early career, I’ve never heard of much of an association between these two and can’t for the life of me find much. I like to think I’m pretty knowledgeable on Dylan, but I haven’t done a deep dive into the administrative side of his recording career and haven’t read many books on Dylan. Can someone more knowledgeable than me confirm whether Davis actually played a major role in Dylan’s career? Or are even the big time newspapers like the WaPo being lazy on their research and just lumping in Dylan as one of Clive’s stars because he happened to be on the record label? I’m genuinely confused.
Bob Dylan at the Starlight on July 4th
I’ve lived in KC for almost 4 years now and somehow have not been to the Starlight yet. Bob Dylan is coming on the 4th - it’ll be my 9th time seeing him! Show will start around 8 pm and I’m wondering if it’s likely to be a good view of any fireworks during the show? Also we got seats somewhat in the back for this one; is it a “any seat in the place is good” kind of venue or not so much?
