Is there a ceiling for diy copy
Running a small business and doing all the marketing yourself is a different animal than writing copy for a client. Nobody tells you that upfront.
I own a small business and work night shifts, so my writing time gets carved out in weird pockets. I write my own website copy, email list stuff, occasional blog posts. No agency, no freelancer, just me figuring it out.
Here's what I keep bumping into. The advice online is either aimed at freelance copywriters pitching clients, or it's aimed at big brands with actual budgets. There's not much in between for the person who IS the business, writes their own stuff, and has maybe 45 minutes on a Tuesday morning before sleeping.
What I want to know from people in this sub is whether DIY business owners actually improve their copy over time or if there's a ceiling without formal training. I've read some books, watched some free courses, and my conversion rate on my optin page is sitting at something embarrassing.
Is the gap between decent and good copy mostly about knowing frameworks, or is it reps, or is it getting outside eyes on your work? And if it's outside eyes, where do people actually go for that when they can't afford an ongoing consultant?
