Unmonitored Letrozole v. IUI

I am struggling with the decision to do a couple of unmonitored letrozole cycles or skip straight to IUI. I am 26yo female with high testosterone, no insulin resistance, normal BMI, open tubes, high AMH (19.47), and do not ovulate or have periods at all. My husband is 28 and has a total motile count of 18 million (normal is 30 million according to my RE).

My OBGYN is allowing me to start Letrozole next cycle but they do not monitor or offer trigger shots.

My RE said we could skip straight to IUI but would not be surprised if we ended up pregnant just doing Letrozole.

I am a bit torn between what to do. I could also do a couple of monitored cycles through my RE but insurance doesn’t cover it.

What’s everyone experiences or thoughts?

Low TMC

Has anyone been able to successfully get pregnant naturally (with Letrozole of course) with a husband whose total motile count is 18 million?

Bleeding after HSG

I just got home from an HSG and I’m bleeding. Not enough to get on a pad, but enough to cover toilet paper when I wiped. It’s bright red, not brown. Is this normal?

Next Steps?

I’m 26, husband is 28. I do not ovulate or have periods on my own. We recently found out that my husband’s sperm count is low. Would you skip medicated cycles and go straight to IUI?

RE Expenses

I have a RE appointment next week and really don’t want to be shocked by the expenses. I live in South Carolina and am looking to try monitored cycles and/or IUI. Does anyone have experience with pricing for these?

Face/Hair Care

Has anyone found a good face routine that helps with cystic acne and acne around your jawline? Mine has never been so bad!

Also, I am losing hair like nobody’s business. Any recommendations?

Reminder

I’ve been really struggling to understand my body and becoming so frustrated that it just doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to so I wanted to share something my doctor said.

I am 26, recently diagnosed PMOS, BMI of 23, eating the healthiest I have ever eaten, working out 2-3 days a week, don’t drink, never smoked, and walking every day. Plus taking Metformin (though not insulin resistant) and all the recommended supplements.

Today I was reminded that you can be doing everything right and still not get the results you hoped for. I have not had a natural period since January nor ovulated at all. Just because something worked for someone else does not mean it’s going to work for you. I hope this encourages someone who, much like me, needed to hear that it’s not my fault.

Sperm Analysis

Just got my husbands sperm analysis back and am wondering if anyone’s husband has similar results but was still able to conceive naturally? Are there ways to improve his results? Lastly, does anyone know why his numbers could be this way?

Concentration- 9 million (below normal)
Motility- 56% (normal)
Total Motile Count- 18 million (slightly below normal)
Morphology- 4% (normal)

RE advice

I’m struggling to know when to seek an RE. I haven’t tried ovulation induction medication, yet. Should I wait and do a couple of rounds of that with my OBGYN? I am mainly worried about my insurance not covering an RE.

Metformin Question

I started Metformin this week and have not had an appetite at all and when I force myself to eat I feel full/bloated so fast. Is this common?

Metformin question

Hi! 26 yo female with PMOS. I’m not insulin resistant according to test ran by my OBGYN. I am not overweight but really struggling with cystic acne and no ovulation or periods. I am taking Inositol and Berberine while also taking all the other recommended supplements and prenatals. My doctor gave me Metformin 500mg extended release and I took it for one day that resulted in a VERY upset stomach all day. My question is.. do I continue Metformin? Will it do me any good since I’m not insulin resistant? Are there any risks taking it when I’m not insulin resistant?

Med options

Hi! 26 year old female TTC for 6 months. I recently received a PMOS diagnosis and have started talking to my doctor about inducing ovulation as I don’t ovulate or have periods on my own. She mentioned Merformin but also mentioned ovulation induction medication like letrozole.

After processing all the information from my appointment this morning, I am wondering why some people with PMOS do Metformin and some go straight to letrozole?

I’d love any input on using one or the other or both!

myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol

How many mgs are we taking a day? Some say 2,000mg once a day and other places say 2,000mg twice a day. Is there any risk with taking 4,000mg a day?

FSH 8.3 mUI/ml

I have not had my period since getting off HBC in January. Also have not ovulated. I had bloodwork done yesterday and my fsh is 8.3. I have been reading where at some points in the cycle that’s normal but for others it’s high. I have no idea what “part” of the cycle I’m in as I haven’t ovulated or had a period since HBC. Is 8.3 considered high?

Provera

Has anyone had experience with taking Provera and then your periods and ovulation becoming normal afterwards?

My doctor just prescribed this after not having a period or ovulating since coming off BC in January.

I have been off of birth control since January and have not ovulated or had a period since. I do have an appointment with my OBGYN, but am panicking about all the things that could be wrong. I got on birth control at 16 and am now 26. My periods were irregular before but I always talked it up to being because I was very active. I currently do not have a diagnosis of PCOS. Has anyone ever experienced this? What tests should I request at the doctor?
