Bad ER experience

Recently went to the ER for liver enzymes and extreme abdominal and shoulder pain. During my time at the ER with labs that showed really high liver enzymes and other abnormal bloodwork, I was literally treated like a drug-seeker. Funny thing is I’m also an employee at this hospital and I was just basically kicked out, was not given discharge instructions or any next steps. I was still in pain and did not understand why I was being discharged with no answers.

Told nurse the discharge pain meds the doc ordered did not work for me (recently had surgery and was given the same meds) and in a very snarky tone all she said was “ok then don’t pick them up”. Asked if I could speak to hepatology and I was told no. I’m not sure where these people get off treating patients this way, maybe it’s because I’m young, no idea.

As a patient extremely frustrating and as an employee super disappointing. Sucks I had to pay a 350 copay just to be treated like that. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Sending thank you letter for Kira..?

So I recently had an interview for a school that uses Kira for their main interview… Should I still send a thank you email to them for giving me the opportunity to interview or do you think it’s different bc I didn’t actually meet or speak to faculty?

Not sure if I should send a quick “thanks for giving me an interview” type of email or if its even necessary

First interview done

Just completed my first interview and I don’t know how to feel. I’m mostly just super anxious and feeling disappointed about some of my responses. To be fair it was a Kira assessment interview and I tried to be as impressionable as I could from a video recording but obviously it’s timed so I feel like some of my answers were not as polished or structured.

As a lower stat applicant I’m just super frustrated wishing I said things or did things different under the possibility of this being my one shot. I can only hope it didn’t go as badly as it did in my head and that it won’t be my only interview this cycle :/

this school was also one of my top choices so nerves were even worse and I’m just being really hard on myself about it

Kira assessment interview

So I’m planning on doing my Kira assessment interview today and I’m not really sure how to prep for it.. This is my first interview as a first time applicant with mid-lower stats so I want to make sure I do stellar and hopefully get myself an acceptance this cycle.

I’m not really sure what to practice or prep on though since it’s not a traditional interview. I’m also super nervous about rambling or getting cut off… any tips?

First interview invite! Mid-lower stats

I wanted to give some hope to the mid-lower or first time applicants that anything is possible! I just got my first interview invite as a first applicant with very mid or even low stats and although it is not an acceptance (yet!), receiving an interview invite is huge!

I think a lot of us get caught up on Reddit and comparing ourselves but at the end of the day your application is what makes you, you! And it is possible!

For reference, my cGPA is 3.5 and sGPA is 3.2.

First interview invite! (mid-lower GPA first time applicant)

Just got my first interview invite as a first-time applicant! The nerves are definitely hitting and I am so anxious! As a mid-lower stat applicant this is a really big deal for me and I'm so glad to finally start getting some responses back. Hopefully all goes well and I'll be making a post about acceptance :)

Is applying rn too late?

So I originally applied back in end of May but I want to add a couple more schools to my list just because ~anxiety~ and I’m deciding to take medical terminology which opened up some options.

Would applying now be too late for schools with deadlines in September? I don’t want to waste money if my application won’t even get looked at since I’m applying basically in August

Do I have a chance this cycle?

I’m feeling pretty insecure about my stats even though I know I shouldn’t compare myself to others on Reddit. I just wanted to know if it was worth applying this cycle.

cGPA: 3.5
sGPA: 3.26
PCE: 3000 ish hrs
HCE: ~900 hrs
Volunteer: 280
Research: 480
LORs: 4 (1 PA, 1 DO, 1 supervisor, and health committee later from my college)
NO GRE
NO PA-CAT or CASPER

I’m bilingual low income and first generation Latina student. Just have so much doubt right now :/

How many schools?

How many schools is everyone applying to? I wanted to get a feel of anybody was in the same boat as me just adding schools every paycheck lol.

I’m up to 25 schools currently and finally finding the will the stop bc I don’t want to apply to schools late and waste money. Also cannot handle another mf supplemental!!!!!!

Funny enough one of the schools I applied to one week ago already sent me an email that I was eligible for an interview and I still haven’t heard back from schools I applied to in May 😩

Mid application

How do I get over the insecurity that my application is mid? I feel like every stat on my caspa is just average or even below average. I’m hoping I described my story well enough through my writing of being underrepresented, low income, first gen, and explaining my lower gpa’s but I genuinely don’t know how to feel. I thought my GPA would be higher considering I only have one C+ which I retook and got a B in but idk. It’s hard to feel like I stand out or have a chance with such average stats :/

For context:
cGPA: 3.5
sGPA: 3.2
PCE: ~3000 hrs (ER tech, EMT, pct)
HCE: ~1000 hrs
LORs: 1 PA, 1 DO, 1 PCE Supervisor, committee letter from college
Research: ~500 hrs
Volunteer: ~290 hrs
Shadowing: 60 hrs (one PA in emergency med)

I have tried to mainly apply to holistic programs and I’m hoping it pays off. I’ve spent too much money this cycle😭

Applying to your undergrads PA school

So my undergraduate program has a PA program where they send guaranteed interviews to all alumni that apply and met the requirements. On their website, they say they aim to accept at least 10% of their alumni into the program.

While it’s a provisional school as of right now, it’s been doing pretty well and I have great connections at the school and would be so happy to go back and be a student there again.

I was wondering if anybody had any experience with interviewing or applying to their undergrads PA program and how that ended up going? As a mid-lower stat first time applicant I feel like I’ll do pretty well in the interview and have lots to talk about being alumni and having such a positive experience. Has anybody gone through this process?

Anxious & insecure?

Anybody else feeling a bit anxious and insecure about the cycle lol.. I keep seeing posts of people getting interviews and have already completed the first round of interviews and maybe even have some acceptances. As someone who applied early and has only received waitlists to be interviewed I’m almost experiencing some sort of FOMO and anxiety over not hearing back from some schools.

I know it’s still early in the cycle but I feel like we’re getting to the point of the timeline where you may be hearing back if you applied early? Idk I’m just stressing myself out and looking to apply to more schools again LOL I’m already at 19

Updates on the cycle

Just wanted to post an update on how my cycle is going for anyone curious about timelines / how an applicant with my stats is doing!

Applied: May 24th
Schools: 19
cGPA: 3.5
sGPA: 3.26
PCE: 3000+ (ER tech, EMT, MA, PCT)
LORs: 1 MD, 1 PA, 1 PCE Supervisor, Health committee letter from my college
Background: first generation, underrepresented, low income

Thus far, obviously it’s still super early in the cycle but this is how it’s going!

School 1: Interview waitlist
School 2: Interview waitlist
School 3: Interview eligible (they continue to scout applications until September for invitations)

School 4, 5, and 6: Rejection (2 of these were reach schools so I saw it coming. One of these I was sort of surprised but realized CASPA messed up my application so it was an auto rejection :’(

Just wanted to post this to give some of you some hope and context to the cycle as an applicant with mid-lower stats! Hopefully we get some more responses this month and maybe an interview! Stay confident and trust your application. It’s not all numbers!!!!

Interview waitlist

Need someone to bring me back to earth or share their experience with being on the interview waitlist. Quite honestly I didn’t really know this was a thing, it’s my first cycle applying and thus far I’ve gotten 3 interview waitlist and 1 rejection.

Starting to get anxious all my other schools will follow the same process :( Has anyone had experience with being on the interview waitlist? Does it mean my application is mid ? I have mid stats with good PCE but I think my writing is really strong and I think I killed the supplementals

Help I’m panic applying

So I’ve already applied to 17 schools end of May… and the panic is starting to set in per usual, all that self doubt and anxiety about not getting accepted anymore. So I’ve started looking at more PA programs and don’t know how to stop!!!! I’ve already spent so much money so I know I should just leave it and forget about it until I hear back from schools but oh my god !!!!

Make me stop !!!

Unofficial Transcripts

So, I took 2 courses through portage learning (A&P1 and Micro) completed and finalized, and now I am taking (A&P2 and biochem). Because of their policy they dont send official transcripts to CASPA while courses are in progress and I'm just worried this is going to be an issue. I am applying this cycle and was ready to submit today but don't know what to do. I waited to finish those two courses so that i could apply this cycle and meet the maximum 2 courses in progress requirement but what if they dont accept my transcripts?

Any advice or recommendations? Have any of you dealt with this?

Applying to 25 schools

Is applying to 25 schools overkill? Every time I try to narrow my list I get this gut wrenching anxiety that I need to apply broadly and the normal nerves about not getting in anywhere if I don’t apply to enough schools. I’m on my second gap year and really don’t want to have to reapply next cycle so I’m between just going for it or if it truly is just overkill and I’m just getting myself anxious for no reason.

Sometimes I feel like my stats just aren’t enough or competitive to be able to confidently just apply to like 8 schools :/

I'm trying to decide if I should add my EMT certification even though it expired last year in october of 2025. I have EMT experience listed under my experiences but should I still put my certification information? Right now the only things active (for my current job) are BLS/CPR certifications which are good until next year. What should I do?
