Center caps currently on backorder

1999 3.3 V6 4wd SE

1999 Desert Runner SE 4wd. Found at way rear of vehicle underneath the bed, near the evap canister/leaf spring. 2 hoses running to it. Has a foam filter in it that's disintegrating. Can anyone help me identify what it is or does? Thanks

Upgraded to LED bulbs all around and replaced some aged wiring harnesses for the tails and front turn signals as well

Replaced my gas cap and reset the code; came back on a week later. Possibly found some evidence of a gas leak on top of the tank? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
