PhD application requirements

Hello! I am a second-year Master’s student in a counseling education program. I realized that I am interested in obtaining my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision a few years after I graduate and get my license. I was wondering if the expectations and requirements for these programs are similar to those for that of a Psychology PhD program.

Is it expected that I have heavy research experience, or is it more about clinical experience and a therapy background? Thanks!

Questions for Novel

Hello everyone! I am an author and working on a book that features a main character who works as an archivist/curator at a museum. I have learned a lot through my own research, but I was wondering if anyone could help me learn about the process of obtaining pieces for exhibits. I have a LOT of questions, so I’d really really appreciate anyone who would be willing to help❤️

  1. Are all pieces a loaner from other museums? Or do they also contract from collectors, history enthusiasts, etc.?
  2. How does one acquire pieces? Is there a certain contact that just everyone in the field can obtain? Is there negotiation or a waitlist? What about terms of agreement? Do you have to pay? Is there insurance involved?
  3. How does one get the piece? Is it shipped? Is there a special way of shipping it? What does the packaging look like?
  4. How much in advance do museums have to plan for exhibits?
  5. For exhibits, does it usually involve several pieces from several different places or an entire collection of pieces all from the same place?
  6. Who decides what exhibits to make? Is it based on interest or just on what is available?
  7. Who decides what museums get to have certain artifacts that are permanent? Especially really old and popular ones. Like why does the British Museum have one of Caryatids?

Thank you SO much to anyone who takes the time to help!

Any grad students here gone to inpatient treatment?

23F, my therapist and dietician are strongly encouraging me to go to inpatient treatment. I am completely open to this, except that I am in graduate school for mental health counseling (i am very aware of the irony of this situation) and am taking (required) online summer classes right now. The problem is that if I take a LOA for this summer, i am placed out of the rotation and cannot continue on to the fall semester without having completed these courses. This means that I would have to wait a year and be placed with the cohort a year below me and graduate a year later.

I am very unhappy in the town where I currently attend school, and the thought of staying here another year and being in school for three more years causes me significant distress. I have a very light course load for the summer (3 classes in total and 100% asynchronous), and I am wondering if anyone has had success in treatment with completing schoolwork while in inpatient treatment or PHP. If so, what facility did you attend and do you feel like your schoolwork took away from your recovery? Thanks everyone.
