I am located in western Washington. This is a patch that I found under a corner of my carpet. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! Curious if anyone can take a stab at what these ants might be. I live in western Washington and they seem to have taken over a rotting cherry plum tree.

They are larger than sugar ants but smaller than the big black carpenter ants that I see around.

Any input would be appreciated!
