School placements

I am fed up yall. My start date was supposed to be the 14. Then it got pushed back to the 20th. Now tomorrow is the 20th and I STILL DONT KNOW WHAT SCHOOL IM AT. I was supposed to go in tomorrow and attend an orientation virtually. Now I was told to attend from home virtually. I’m honestly at a loss. I’m left wondering if I even have a job. I’ve been an SLPA for 4 years and have never dealt with this. Idk what to do.

When do you find out your placement?

I’m moving to virginia and I signed a contract through a staffing company for a school based role. Problem is, I’m still waiting to hear what my actual placement will be and to do finger prints and stuff. My recruiter has assured me it’s normal and I will hear back later in July but I’m so stressed about it. I just wanted to know everyone else’s experience. My only experience as a contractor was starting in the middle of the year and then renewing my contract for the next year, so this is new territory for me.

Finally got a colonoscopy

This is gonna be long, but I read so many of these before I got my colonoscopy done so I thought I’d share my experience too. I (27F) started having minor symptoms back in November (when I was still 26), mucus with some streaks of blood, and constipation. My mom has dealt with bad constipation her whole life, diet hasn’t helped with it and she has to take miralax everyday. She had no polyps at her colonoscopy. My dad had a few polyps at his colonoscopy but he’s all good. My grandpa on my dad’s side got diagnosed with colon cancer in his 70s which ultimately is what he died from. I’m vegan and eat a lot of fiber and started taking psyllium husk daily which seemed to help a little but not fully, and I still had frequent mucus with small amounts of blood. I had been putting off getting a colonoscopy because my first GI doctor said it would be billed as a diagnostic colonoscopy, which would’ve had a copay of $3000. My symptoms subsided for a while but then I seemed to have a flare, and I went to a new GI doctor who said they’d bill it as a screening colonoscopy due to my family history, but of course charges may occur if they have to do any biopsies or anything. I had been SO nervous for everything… I was really nervous for the prep (I did the Dulcolax and MiraLAX prep), but it was a piece of cake for me. The worst part was not eating the day before. I only had minor cramping while doing prep and I was able to sleep no problem. The worst part for ME was the waiting at the surgery center. When they sent me back, hooked me up to the IV, and my heart rate was going like 130 BPM. I was so nervous about being put under, even though I have already been put under twice before in my life. I have anxiety and OCD so my baseline is pretty anxious as is. Anyway, the procedure is done and I had no polyps, it seemed like they found no active hemorrhoids either but said the blood may be from hemorrhoid flares. I have a follow up appointment in a few weeks where they’ll go over it more. Either way, I’m just so relieved to have finally done it, it really wasn’t anything to worry about I was just mostly worried about the anesthesia and, of course, the results. I wish that it was the new norm to start screening colonoscopies in your mid-late 20s, because it’s such a quick and easy procedure. It’s definitely normal to be nervous, but hopefully this helps put your mind at a little ease if you are very nervous like I was. Of course having good results helped too… lol.
