Auto mod for ‘cheap rower’ questions send them to r/homegym or r/fitness
Please mods, please… for the love of rowing, please can we create an automod to stop the ‘I want a cheap rower’ posts.
The road cyclists wouldn’t put up with ‘I want a spin bike’ posts. People here are frustrated, it makes us rude, and that becomes unpleasant. We tell them to get a C2, they say they hate the sport of rowing and only want a cheap hunk of plastic, we all wonder why they came here in the first place.
It would be so easy to add an automod post for all ‘cheap rower’ posts which says - we literally don’t know, try at r/homegym or r/fitness instead.
Lipase vs newer surfactants
Asking this question in the hopes we can all get nerdy together and not in any way to start a drama…
Obviously on this sub we talk a lot about lipase a lot. u/KismaiAesthetics and others have done a lot to explain why lipase works to break down oil.
More recently a new user u/ozarkbluebird has suggested that top detergents (as rated externally) have replaced lipase with different newer surfactants that tackle a different (wider?) range of oils.
Do u/febu_max or u/GarameCleaningCo have a view on this?
What are the benefits of each approach? What surfactant ingredients should we look for that do the same job as lipase?
🙏 thanks in advance, I’m looking forward to putting my A-level biochemistry to use in understanding your replies!
Paces for lane swimming
At a normal suburban swimming pool, during open swimming times, what would you consider to be pace ranges for the slow, medium and fast lanes?
(Context for the USAians, it’s common in the UK for lap swimming to be arranged by speed with sometimes 5-6 people sharing one lane).
At my pool today, the slow lane was being used by water-walkers, there was one medium lane moving at approx 45-60 seconds per 25m lap, and there were 4 fast lanes mostly being used by competitive club swimmers and people using fins and hand paddles. I was told off by medium lane swimmers for being too fast and by fast lane swimmers for being too slow.
At approx 25-35 seconds per 25m, swimming continuously, which lane should I be in?
