1/100 Mecha Core Industries Oberon

This one had been in the backlog for a bit. Finally got to it this week and man this was a fun build, but this is a gorgeous kit! This is a big boy too, just the mech is large, pictured with FatCat for reference, but then add in the wings and all of a sudden shelf space was at a premium.

This was a good build experience but there are a couple important things to be aware of going in, the gold is painted on and as when you airbrush, the parts have a tight fit. There is a ton of undergating as one would expect, but with the gold being painted this means you see the gray underneath from the nub marks, highly recommend the metallic gold Gundam marker for touch up, but most of the spots are hidden once the build is completed. The main one is the V-fin that needed touch up. These are not cons to me but may be to you so wanted to mention them.

This is my second Mecha Core kit, I previously built the Charon. I definitely like their stuff and need to take a look at the ixchel. Hope they have some new kits in the works and not just more recolors.

1/72 In Era Fenrir

I took roughly 22ish hours across 3 weeks but I have finally finished the Fenrir and my god what an amazing build. Every good thing you have heard is real. The build experience was smooth as butter, the build itself is insanely intricate, I mean there are pistons all over the place on their thing, so many moving parts. If you are a hatch gimmick guy this has you covered too.

I was kinda sad putting the armor on because the inner frame is so beautiful on this kit but the finished product is absolute perfection so I quickly got over it. I previously posted twice with WIP pics, I have posted most of them here, have more than the 20 limit, so lots to see.

Another thing that shocked me is that it can hold up both those giant swords, which were almost mini MGs in their own right, without any stand, although posing will be limited this way lol. Just so y'all know that is the FatCat and MG Barbatos for size comparisons in the couple photos with them.

I truly do not have a negative thing to say about this kit. Even the price, I got mine for $110, is way more than fair for the current market, blows Bandai out of the water. I definitely will be looking at more In Era kits in the future like the Lizard and Nemesis. If you have thought about this kit, all I can say is do it, just do it!!!!

1/72 in Era Fenrir WIP (update)

I made some good progress this week. Completed the inner frame and got the armor on the legs and waist. Only halfway through the instruction book but the weapons will go much faster.

I hope to finish next weekend and will have a review at that point. So far I'm in the 15-16 hour range working on this thing. What a beast!

In Era Fenrir WIP

Started my journey with the Fenrir. This is all I got done in the same amount of time it takes me for most 1/100 scale kits.last pick is FatCat for size comparison, this is a doozy.

Black Knight Squad Cal-re.a

I didn't have much time this week and I decided to do a HG for the first time in a while, I actually finished this a few days back just posting now. I love Gundam Seed and finally got my hands on Cal-re.a and boy is this a gorgeous kit, would love an MG of this kit. After doing MGs for so long I forgot how simple an HG kit is. That said this kit sure has a presence on the shelf. I did skip the stickers, and plan to paint instead. Idk if this kit is worth the going rate, I have seen it between $35-$40, which is way too high IMO. There is a KO at a good price for those that are cool with those.

Anyways hope y'all got some good building in. Next up for me I start the long journey of In Era Fenrir.

CangDao/Tian Wei Guardian Sentinel of Azure Dragon

This is such an incredible kit! The 3rd party market right now is just banger after banger after banger. This is my second CangDao kit, did one of their MGSD kits. The quality is unbelievable. Has an allot inner frame so this thing is sturdy and has some heft to it. The level of detail on the kit is fantastic to say the least, hope my pictures do it some justice. It came with the LED, on it the first picture, and a stand, very basic. Very good articulation here too.

Couple things that may be considered for you to be aware of. 1) there is very little undergating here and should have been. Definitely had to do some clean up to get rid of some nubs marks, more work to do still as well. 2) the hands are all single rubber pieces that connect to the armor pieces which have the wrist joint on them. I don't mind this myself, but it is something I know will bother some people so wanted to mention it here.

I love the uniqueness of this design and I am falling in love with the Chinese kits man. So much in this package and I got it all for $38 USD! Insane deal by today's market. Absolutely worth giving it a shot if you like the design. The last picture is with FatCat for size comparison. Not a huge kit, more in line with the standard MG size. Anyways, hope y'all had a good weekend building!

Hemoxian Legion of Thor

My god, what a blast I had with this build. This was one of my Grail kits. I have been waiting for a reissue or decent price for quite some time and finally scored a good deal.

So first thing, this is one chonky boy! I knew it was a big kit but I definitely underestimated the full size, do not recommend if shelf space is an issue 😂. This was one of the most unique builds I have done so far, the arms build up and have mechanical parts like the legs. I did have a couple tight parts but no loose ones thankfully.

I pictured it with FatCat and MG Unicorn OVA for size comparison. It does not come with a stand, but does have multiple adapters so if you have an extra laying around you should be good. Also came with an LED for the head, can't tell that well but it is one in the first couple pics. If this has been on your wishlist definitely recommend going for it when you can.

SNAA Soul Spear Lamorak

I have decided to start posting my build impressions & experiences here instead of the other one due to this place having a better appreciation for non Bandai kits. I am unabashed in my love for SNAA at this point, their one ding they still get is their color schemes, need more variety, they are getting better though.

That said, I actually like the color scheme here on Soul Spear Lamorak. I've loved the knight look of this line lately too. The weapons are simple but cool. Another bonus here, no points lost for being too pointy, a more than acceptable amount here. Pose ability here is good, I just suck at it and tend to do the Artorias post a lot, never gets old to me.

I posted pics of my completed knights line and one with it next to FatCat for size comparison. The value of these kits is insane to me. I saw a review of this kit, but I can't remember what channel, and they said this line isn't really comparable to RG since they don't have inner frames. Idk what the guy was smoking but the instructions have you build the inner frame first before any armor goes on. I don't like to tell people what to like but if you have any interest in SNAA I cannot recommend them enough.
