Sabahans are like a person with Stockholm syndrome.

Sabahans will condemn all the rasuah and abuse of authority, at the same time they will smile sheepishly and allow these people to do whatever they want. They will even vote for them if they get a bit of benefit.

Some Sabahans will even take part in ridicule of the nail that dare stands out in society. Mahasiswa berani defend orang kampung, kena ridiculed. Let's see if that happened to your kampung.

No compensation, no anything. The government just takes it away because some rich guy that probably has a politician as a partner, wants to build something there.

Yes, the rich guy has geran and everything, but that land has "belonged" to the kampung for generations.

The authorities will say something like "mahasiswa disrupt polis menjalankan tugas" as a reason to apprehend the people who stand up for the weak and defenceless.

This is why I roll my eyes when some Sabahans beat their chest about their Sabahan heritage.

What use is it when you bend over backwards towards your oppressors? Or ridicule the people who stand up for the weak?

Neocolonialism

Its called neocolonialism because it's not meant to appear so direct.

Neocolonialism is the use of economic, political, cultural, or strategic pressures by developed powers to control or influence developing nations, particularly former colonies, after they have gained formal independence. It operates through indirect, often hidden means—such as multinational corporations and international loans—rather than direct military. Taken from Google.

Think what you want from what I wrote. But from I see these days, people who cannot see neocolonialism are usually the loudest on social media.
