Thinking of cancelling my MYP order for the new iX3 50 xDrive. Thoughts on my build & a few concerns?
Hey everyone,
I could really use some advice from this community.
I currently have a Tesla Model Y Performance on order for September delivery. But ever since I pulled the trigger, I’ve been heavily debating if I should cancel it and move to the new Neue Klasse iX3, even though delivery wouldn't be until Q1 2027.
I own a 1993 E36, and honestly, that classic "Bimmer feeling" is hitting me hard. For context, my wife's daily driver is a 2014 Peugeot 208, so either way, jumping to a modern EV is going to be a massive generational leap from what we are used to.
I’ve put together a configuration and would love your thoughts on my build: https://configure.bmw.pt/pt_PT/configid/pw23n1g2.
The iX3 felt amazing on the test drive, super engaging, the only one-pedal drive that felt like the MYP, and that 800V charging architecture is an absolute beast compared to the 400V Tesla.
However, I have a couple of lingering concerns from watching YouTube reviews, and I'm hoping you guys can give me some real-world perspective:
High-Speed Cabin Noise: I’ve seen a few videos and comments mentioning that the cabin gets pretty noisy at higher highway speeds (some pointing to tire noise or lack of acoustic glass on certain windows). I know the car has Active Noise Cancelling, but is highway noise actually a noticeable issue during road trips?
Cabin Heat/Thermal Management: I've also come across videos and forum posts mentioning quirks with the cabin heating, like the car struggling to maintain a cozy temperature on long trips once it initially warms up. Is this something worth worrying about?
I know waiting until Q1 2027 vs. taking delivery of the Tesla next month is a big difference, but I want to make sure I'm making the right long-term choice.
Any feedback on the build link, or real-world experience with the noise and heat, would be hugely appreciated to help me make up my mind!
