Got into a Minor Accident in the parking lot. Need Advice

Hi,

I am in my Red Ps, i accidently hit the right bump of a JAGUAR SUV STATION WAGON in the parking space. It made scratches as shown as in the photo. I have spoken with my Insurance, & they have asked $1100 excess fees(org $700+$400 being P-plater :(. The other party's insurance hasnt provided the repair quote. Would it be cheaper to get it fixed privately? Thanks.
