Back to the future reference

watching the 1985 episode "Up on the Roof" (S3 E8) Nov 28.1985 when Judge Stone asks Eddie Devon what year he thinks it is his response is "it's 80 something" Stone answers back with "It's 1985 Reagan is president" with Eddie's response "The actor?" a nice nod to Back to the Future when Doc Brown's response to Marty telling him Ronald Reagen was president was "Ronald Reagan? The Actor?!?!"

Back to the future was released on July 3, 1985 so the writers had seen the movie and added that nice quote likely the first time a BTTF quote was used.

I was born in 1984 so I was a bit too young to have seen the first airing and I have started watching OG Night Court after watching the re-boot so this was the first time I noticed the quote.

Horizon festival Mexico is closed

The festival site cleared out just some confetti in the air of what was a long party. Time to pack it up and head to Japan starting on May 15th.

Finished up the last daily challenge for winter a bit sweet moment but it was a hell of a ride! Can’t wait to see the improvements in FH6 and look forward to see what new locations will be added via DLC in the coming years.

See you all in Japan!

Display update

While back I got super lucky and found an Amazon listing for the Greenlight 6 car display case for under 10 bucks and finally got around to taking a photo of the updated display of first shot samples of Greenlight and one Racing champions (the white caprice)

As FH6 approaches my fav DLC pack

Was the Universal entertainment pack and the Back To The Future Time Machines. While the DeLorean licensing was removed and some details were changed to just make them avoid copyright infringement they still looked good.
As a major Back To The Future fan it was nice to see the Time Machine included as a drivable car in a video game that was a mod.

The criticisms I do have is not having some added details to the cars
Pt1 plutonium case, radiation suits, Doc’s briefcase body kit to add lighting rod
Pt2 hover board, Biff’s cane top, sports almanac/blast from the past bag, the news papers, body kit to appear to hover.
Pt3 Marty’s cowboy hat with pictures, hoverboard body kit to add rail wheels logs for train and pressure gauge.

I hope this license returns in FH6 to these 3 cars can be used again.

Early 80’s PlayArt 1979 Chevrolet Caprice in neon green.
PlayArt a Diecast toy car brand from 1965 to 1983

A bit of an unfair comparison between the PlayArt 1979 Chevrolet Caprice (maybe the first example of the car in 1:64th) and Greenlight Collectables 1981 Chevrolet Caprice.

The PlayArt release sometime in the 80’s (company folded in 1983)
The Greenlight introduced the casting in 2019 with base number GL-169 and still continues to release various years of the Caprice and Impala on that chassis.

You can see what limited details could be done in the 80’s with a budget brand vs a modern premium brand almost 40 years later.

Not to bad of a find at Walgreens. Found the unofficial A-team van so not too disappointed. I do like how Car Tuned is pulling a page out of Johnny Lightning’s hand book of changing just enough of the design as it’s not quite a licensed product but just close enough to pass as one.

Thought I got lucky with a new drop with finding the 54 Grumman Step Van but it was just that and a couple of the 68 Olds 442s was hoping for the Suburban but nope. I did find the 50 Chevy COE truck on a random end cap I guess someone didn’t want it or a kid had grabbed it and the parent took it and put it there. Either way it was a small score.
