HOW TO START A CIBIL JOURNEY FOR THE FIRST TIME AS 19Y OLD
For the Context:
Hey everyone, I'm 19m student and i do freelance work so i earn little much and i recently made my pan card (6months ago) and currently i do not even have a bank account on my own name and i have 0 knowledge about cibil and how credit card system works, so you can call me a newbie, i am currently using using Airtel Payments Bank on my mothers name which is linked to my phone number and i do small expenses from there only.
My Questions:
- IN WHICH BANK SHOULD I OPEN MY ACCOUNT?
I was browsing the internet and checking out a few banks, such as HDFC, ICICI, and Axis; I checked their systems, but it was very confusing as there are multiple types of savings accounts, and I really don't know which one will work for me, especially since the minimum deposit is around 10k in some banks and if i do fd i would have to deposit another 10k this makes me so hectic and this much of amount I cannot afford at one time, so I need suggestions on which bank I should open my account with
- DOES FIRST BANK ACCOUNT MATTERS FOR THE CIBIL IN FUTURE?
A friend told me that your first bank account or any other CIBIL activity matters for the future, such as opening your first fixed deposit, opening your first bank account, or taking a small loan to build your credit report. He mentioned that it establishes your CIBIL credit age, and he suggested that any first financial account or activity do from a reliable source so that it does not get closed, which would negatively affect your credit age. Is this true, and if so, If it's true so what reliable source can be?
- WHICH TYPE OF CREDIT CARD SHOULD I GO FOR?
While researching credit cards online, I learned that you can obtain one in several ways, such as: FD Against Credit Card, unsecured Credit Cards or pre-approved Credit Cards.
So, Which option is best for a first time user?
Regarding FIXED DEPOSIT CREDIT CARDS, I cannot afford a large deposit of 30k, 40k, or 50k, I can manage a maximum of 10k. Which bank should I choose for this? As for UNSECURED CREDIT CARDS, where can I obtain them, and which banks or apps provide them? Is this a good option for a beginner?
If I choose an unsecured card as my first one, must I keep it active indefinitely as for the proof for credit history age? Same question for the FD AGAINST CREDIT CARDS.
- DOES CREDIT SCORE MATTER IN TAKING STUDENT LOAN?
As I belong to a middle-class family and will be starting college in the next 6 to 8 months, and since my parents cannot afford my further education, I am considering getting a student loan; does a CIBIL score actually help in obtaining an education loan, and if so, how can I build a good CIBIL score in 6 to 8 months starting now?

If you were in my place, what beginner step would you take now to start your journey, and what would be the first thing you would do?
