Career Guidance: Breaking into Cyber Security in Pakistan
I graduated in 2025 and honestly wasted a lot of time feeling lost about my career direction. I've now decided to fully commit to Cyber Security. I've finished TryHackMe's Pre-Security path and am currently doing Cybersecurity 101.
To seniors and working professionals in Pakistan's infosec space, I would really appreciate your honest advice:
Is TryHackMe sufficient? Can completing THM paths (like SOC Level 1 or Jr Penetration Tester) actually help me land interviews, or is it seen as just basic practice?
What technical skills are non-negotiable? What baseline tools, networking depth, Linux proficiency, or scripting skills do local employers expect for entry-level candidates?
What are the most common entry-level positions in Pakistan, and how do you actually get hired for them? what is the best strategy to get an interview in Pakistan?
Any realistic advice on what to prioritize next would mean a lot. Thank you!
Moving to another country
I’ll be moving to another country soon and I’m planning to take my desktop PC with me. I’d love to hear from people who have actually traveled internationally with their PCs.
My current case has a tempered glass side panel, so I’m considering selling it and moving my components into a smaller, more travel-friendly case. I’m also thinking about selling my monitor here and buying a new one after I move, since transporting it seems risky.
For those with experience:
* Did you take your PC as checked baggage or carry-on?
* Is switching to a compact/travel-friendly case worth it, or should I keep my current one?
* Would you recommend removing the GPU and packing it separately?
* Is selling the monitor and buying another one at my destination the better option, or is it practical to take it with me?
Any tips or things you wish you knew before traveling with a desktop PC would be greatly appreciated.
Advice for correlated pairs
I have the same setup on EURUSD, EURJPY, and GBPJPY. The structure, candlestick pattern, entry model, and RR are essentially identical across all three pairs.
In this case, how would you handle the correlation risk?
Would you:
Take all three at full risk?
Split your normal risk across all three positions?
Treat them as one trade idea and cap total exposure?
I’m not looking for which setup is strongest, as I don’t see a meaningful difference between them. I’m more interested in how experienced traders manage risk when the same setup appears across multiple correlated pairs.
