does hendrix college own the hendrix wetlands preserve?

exactly what the title asks. does hendrix college own and manage that area, or is it city-run?

i'm trying to figure out who to contact about organizing some kind of clean up and asking for more trash bins/weekly pickup in the park itself. it's absolutely full of garbage right now, including people just dumping boxes full of trash after buying something from walmart and taking whatever it is they bought out. then they just toss the box and other packing stuff on the side of the road. hendrix makes so much money off this area, it's absurd they can't even put a LITTLE bit of that back into keeping their area clean.

edit: by "this area," i meant the area around the preserve, including the village, apartments, and homes. hendrix college makes a ton of money off the area (which used to be forests), not just the preserve.

edit 2: thanks y'all, i think i have a good idea of where to go from here, so i'll just say if anyone wants to go with me to clean up local creeks, parks, etc, my dms are open. i try to get out there at least a couple times a month.

stonedam creek trail trashed

hey neighbors, so. i just spent half an hour picking up nerf darts and soda/energy drink cans from the stonedam creek trailhead on mimosa drive. i don't know if it was college kids or someone's unsupervised children, but they left over 40 darts - plastic and foam - littered all around the grass. some had already been chewed on by rabbits or squirrels, so those animals may well die of blockages. if your kids left with nerf guns and "lost" all their darts, please go have a talk with them. and if this was YOU... y'all should be ashamed. the park isn't your backyard, and your neighbors shouldn't have to pick up after you.

on a related note, i've been going and picking up trash with my dog on local trails for an hour or so a week. if anyone wants to join (or donate me a pair of waders so i can get into the creeks proper), you're more than welcome to join.

any fellow queer folks wanna go hiking?

exactly what the title says. i'm a trans dude who wants a) more queer friends and b) to be in the woods a lot! woolly hollow and petit jean are my usual haunts, and while i prefer to go on days with less ppl, i'm pretty flexible. i've been wanting to try out some more remote trails, but i don't want to go alone. it'd be nice to have a few folks who might wanna go some time! i have a dog who tags along most of the time, but he can always stay home.

also trying to find folks who'd wanna do a weekly or biweekly cleanup in local parks and especially in the creeks/streams in the city.

for those who were wanting to go foraging: i'm the same dude. had car trouble, and it threw off all my plans. hit me up if you're still down! i'll make a telegram or discord or signal chat for folks interested if enough ppl want it!

bonus points if you're over 30 bc i'm getting old and i'd like some friends closer to my age lol.

bc reddit thought this might be breaking rule 5: i am not looking for a date or a hookup or anything like that. i just wanna go birdwatching and look at cool mushrooms and maybe see a waterfall or two.

it's that time of year again, and i'm looking for folks who might wanna go out and forage for some local edible plants together! the blackberries aren't ready yet, but it's smilax season, and i'm planning to go nip some soon, if anyone would like to come with. bonus points if you're also queer (trans dude here), over 30 (i'm just tired of feeling so old), and are chill with meeting my dog.

fellow trans folks, i've seen y'all around but i've been too shy to say hello, so if i've accidentally ignored you on here, pls hit me up again. i need to get out more.

UPDATE: will reach out to folks who replied here in the morning! been busy trying to catch up after tax season, but will get some plans solidified this week! thanks, y'all.
