iphone 13 pro max "dead"
I’m experiencing a phone issue with my iPhone 13 Pro Max and need some advice and help.
The screen flickers, then goes completely white. I had it checked by a third-party repair shop, and it started booting up every five minutes, heating up and flashing the screen. Eventually, it won’t turn on anymore.
Here’s a timeline of the problem:
- I had my iPhone 13 Pro Max for four years.
- One day, the screen started flickering. I initially thought it was just a bug or software defect.
- Days later, the screen went completely white. I could still feel haptics, notifications and operate the phone underneath, but it eventually returned to normal after a few minutes.
- The issue persisted for a few more times, going completely white without returning to normal. However, I could still screen mirror with my MacBook and operate the phone.
- I didn’t have much free time, so I wasn’t quick to get it repaired because I could still access it.
- When I finally decided to get it repaired, there was no Apple store nearby. I found a third-party repair shop and explained my issue. They said it was just the screen. I agreed to get the screen replaced, even though it was non-genuine.
- When I received the phone back, it wouldn’t turn on anymore. The repair shop then told me it was broken and that the motherboard was the issue, so the screen replacement wasn’t necessary. They put the original screen back and said they couldn’t fix the phone.
I was disappointed because I had scheduled an appointment at an Apple store that was two hours away.
I visited the Apple store, and they checked the phone for any unofficial tampering. They confirmed it was fine and there was no tampering. They tried turning it on, but it wouldn’t budge even after forcing power into it. It’s now completely dead. They advised me to charge it for a full two days and wait for any sign of life. I’ve already charged it for two days, and it’s heating up like a phone should when charging, but it won’t turn on. Sadly, I couldn’t upload my files and storage to iCloud because I didn’t think the damage would be so serious.
My concerns are:
- Would I still be able to revive my phone?
- What can I do to get it fixed?
- Would I still be able to retrieve my data?
- Is there a chance the battery is the main issue affecting the phone’s functionality?
*Edit: Before it completely shut down, the screen would turn pink whenever it booted and restarted. It would turn on, then within five minutes the screen would turn pink and shut down before restarting again. This cycle continued until the device became completely unresponsive.
