2026 Super GT Opening Round: Okayama Race.
The new season has finally started.
In this video, in addition to introducing the Race Ambassadors, we bring you interviews with drivers Yusuke Shiotsu and Sota Arao.
Five months ago, on 2 November 2025, the no.5 “Mach Shaken Air Buster MC86 Mach‑go” took Team Mach’s first‑ever Super GT victory at Motegi, winning the GT300 finale after more than two decades of fighting as underdogs.
Drivers Yusuke Shiotsu and Iori Kimura turned the MOTEGI GT 300km GRAND FINAL into the night the Mach‑go finally stood on the top step.
A new custom design for the MC86:
The MC86 is one of the strangest “Toyota 86s” on the planet. Under the skin it’s a Dome-built Mother Chassis GT300 car with a carbon monocoque and a spec GTA 4.5L V8 that traces back to Nissan’s VK45DE.
Instead of being a tuned road car like the GT3s it races, it’s a pure prototype wrapped in 86 cosplay, running about 300 km/h with front‑engine, rear‑drive balance and huge downforce.
That’s why Team Mach have stuck with it since 2015, it’s cheaper to run than most GT3s, but still wild enough to take on factory cars and finally grab that first win in GT300.
A privateer team, a one‑off V8 86 silhouette… this really is the “real‑life Mach 5” still fighting in Super GT.
Most of us know Team Mach from GT300 driving the MACHSYAKEN AIR BUSTER MC86
But that's not the only Team Mach (マッハ) out there.
Here are the other teams...

Who else is super excited to see Super GT Round 2 in Fuji?
I’m trying to put together a proper timeline of the team's GT300 cars over the years and could use some help.
From what I’ve pieced together so far, it looks something like this (years are “best effort,” so please correct anything I’ve got wrong)

Team Mach:
The name isn't a coincidence. Mach GoGoGo is where Team Mach gets its name, its #5, and its red M.
Team owner Tetsuji Tamanaka founded MACH Co. in 2003 in collaboration with Tatsunoko Productions, the studio behind Mach GoGoGo. His first full JGTC season was 2002, and he commemorated Tatsunoko's 40th anniversary by campaigning the Speed Racer liveried No.5 Banpresto Mach MT. His second season even featured a Racer X livery, the only time it's ever appeared in Super GT.
From A&S Racing to Team B1 to Team Mach after 2004 , through Vemac, Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3, Ferrari 458 GT3 and the Toyota MC86, the #5 has carried the Mach spirit across 20+ years of racing.
In 1967 Go Mifune drove the Mach 5. In 2026 Yusuke Shiotsu & Souta Arao drive the #5 MC86, the real-life Speed Racers.

Team Mach is one of Super GT's most endearing stories. They're the last team still running the Mother Chassis (a Dome-built tub with a Nissan VK45DE V8), a regulation that's been essentially obsolete for years. They've been grinding in GT300 for over two decades, and last season finally scored their first-ever class win at Motegi after 20+ years of trying.
For 2026 they've paired returning driver Yusuke Shiotsu with rookie Souta Arao (ex-Honda and Red Bull junior, making his GT racing debut entirely). The underdog story continues.
