Red. Just red. 🔴
My new reddest tillandsia. No green left, just wow.

Rare instance of her letting me take a photo without lunging at my phone.
Hybrid Blooming
I have this YCB barfussii x ionantha Ron since it was just a tiny seedling 3 years ago and it finally flowered!
Normally, I am not particularly excited about tillandsia flowers but this one is different. Tillandsia can be broadly categorized by their flowers: petaled or tubular (any botanist can enlighten me on the proper terminology?). Barfussii has petaled flowers while ionantha has tubular ones, so I was curious to see what will the flowers of their hybrid look like.
Turns out the flowers are petaled, although the petals are somewhat long. I have to say I'm not disappointed by the beauty. Looking forward to offsets.
My Collection (Part 57): T. xerographica x ionantha
Love the way the leaves curl, giving the plant a neat round form. I guess the recent intense heat triggered the bloom.
My Collection (Part 56): T. balbisiana x ionantha Fuego
Iirc, this is from Singapore. Inherited Fuego's vibrant red when flowering.
My Collection (Part 55): T. diguetii x vanhyningii
Beautiful hybrid of two of my favorite tillandsia species.
My new 1.2m grow light... and still out of space
I can't stop getting more. They are so captivating.
My Collection (Part 54): T. ionantha Snowball
Got this beauty from Tillandsia International before they close down.
My Collection (Part 53): T. barfussii x ionantha Ron
A hybrid from Taiwanese hybridizer YCB. I have grown this plant from a 15mm seedling to it current size.
My Collection (Part 52): T. gardneri var. rupicola
I love the way it forms a "skirt".
